SOLVED: Cannot even start L8.12b "Serious Program Error"

Post by UnderwaterSunlight » Sat Feb 21, 2009 9:25 am

Hello,
8.12beta got installed today.
Upon trying to start it, I get the message "A serious program error has occurred. Live will shut down after this message box has been closed."

I don't even get to authorizing it. However, the VST folder gets scanned properly.

Misbehavior seems to occur at the point when the template set is being loaded. Also, before that, L8 complains about the skin "Metal" to be missing (the one I use in L6).
In comparison, my parallel version, L6.0.11final, works like a charm.

I mailed the log.txt to [email protected].
(No crash pack found on the desktop.)

Anyone having the same problem ?
I should mention I use Win.XP MediaCenterEdition SP2 on a PC.

Greetz.

Hello,

problem solved.
I removed preferences.cfg from the preferences subfolder under C:\Documents and Settings.....\...\....
Now L8.12b runs.
