Inconsistent User Interface

Post by photonal » Sat Feb 21, 2009 11:17 am

Is there a reason why a double-click on a folder icon (or on the folder name) in 'Live Devices' or 'Plug-In Devices' doesn't open the folder?

If you double-click on Folders or their names, in the other Numbered folders, they *do* open as expected.

It is easier to target and click the Folder icon (or it's name) rather than the smaller triangle next to it, to open the folder contents.

Actually, this is also the behaviour in Live 7, maybe this will get sorted out in 8?

i think its to avoid confusion between actual folders and the devices that also double as folders for their own presets, since double clicking a device 'folder' sends the device to a track.

ok, but say when you first view 'Live Devices' - you have 'Instruments','MIDI Effects' and 'Audio Effects' folders. It should be possible to just double-click on the Folder Icon or it's name to open it's contents instead of having to home in and target the little triangle.

The same applies to 'Plug-In Devices' too.

Double-clicking a real folder should just open it - no confusion there surely.

hey, you asked! just saying i don't think its a mistake the way things work currently, and thus more of a feature request than a bug.

At least the "Plug-In Devices" browser contains 100% regular folders (the subfolders in your VST directory) which you need to open to show the actual device inside.

A double click to open these, well yeah, no objection from me :)
