Will the faster hard disk reduce these problems?

i don't think so.
I use 7200rpm.
I once consider using 15000rpm,
but this is a whole different issue.

When you shift the audio into effects so suddenly,
yes, there is a glitch.
Therefore, you should prepare your effects and audio before you move
either of them.

I'm wishing the same thing as you are.
I wish there weren't any glitches even when I move the
played clips into different tracks.

Hey, some day.
cheers

it didn't happen before upgrading to 4.04...I hope 4.05 will have that MAJOR problem solved. I have two live performance coming up in january and I don't want to have these cliks and pops all the time.
So I guess I can go back to Live 3 where this problem doesn't occur.
the shitty thing is I have to rebuid my session in Live 3. very time consuming...

seems to only be on the aux sends, the volume faders work clean.
this is crap- very limiting...
hope that4.5 is a fix...

You're right it's only the Aux sends, no matter if you have an effect in the sends or if it's empty. weird !
btw I am using a G4 so I don't know about Windows users.

p.s : no need to start a Windows/mac war over this one...it's gettin a bit boring to read so many threads about that :x

got enough RAM?
what is the CPU usage?
tried increasing the ASIO buffer size (if you are using ASIO drivers)?

don't assume it's Live's fault straight away.
btw Live 4 is heavier on the CPU than 3, so this might be a factor with slower CPU's.

I got a powerbook G4 with 1GB DDR SDRAM, for the driver type i am using the core audio (just have that option anyway) with maximum buffer size, and sample rate at 44.1 khz.

I don't think it's a matter of cpu. this will hapen even with a session kept to its minimum size; as soon as I move an Aux send fader...I go click and pop....voila !

i don't believe it's anything to do with ram or cpu-
i have the same problem with no clips running....and like 12%cpu..
it will even happen with no plug-ins activated...wtf?!!
i'd still like to know if pc users are having this problem...
so...any pc users???
thanx

Sorry mate,

This one is definately an Ableton problem. I experience the same problem and have seen it firsthand happen on two other peoples computers. And yes, while Live4 may be more CPU-heavy, this is not a matter of old machines not being able to handle the load. Myself and my two friends all have new Powerbooks (1Ghz and faster) with lots of RAM (between 786 Mb and 1.5Gb), external harddrives, etc., etc., and have been Live users for long enough to know how to optimize our machines.

It pains me to do this, but I have to go back to using Reason exclusively... the amount of pops and clicks the sends produce make Live4 unusable for live performances (in my opinion anyway).

Ableton: please Please PLEASE let us know you are atleast aware of this and are working on it... I'll be more than happy to supply audio and video examples of this problem in action.

Cheers,
jm

ABLETON my friend, are you listening ?
Are you aware of that little shitty tiny problem that make your wonderful piece of software unusable for live performances for many of us ?
