CAN YOU CHANGE SOUNDS ON VST SYNTH AUTOMATICALLY?

Post by stevehowlett » Sun Feb 22, 2009 12:15 pm

HI,

OK - I got 2 clips - one above the other - triggering a bassline sound on a VST synth (Albino 3)

I want the clips to play different sounds on the synth automatically - can i do this - is this possible?

How?

Thanks!

Is it mandatory that you have the clips on the same track?

Here are some suggestions, not sure which is best for your setup, CPU resources, etc...

Send a Program Change command at the start of the midi clip, it should change the sound on the related VSTi.

Is this specific VSTi multitimbral?
If so, you could create another MIDI track set it to channel 2 on the output.

Or create a new MIDI track and load a separate instance of the Albino3 synth, assign it the sound

just open 2 instances of the synth and have the two different sounds on each of them.....save yourself the headache

or if you don't have the cpu capablities, bounce the first sound to audio or something, come back to it later if you need to change it

if the synth responds to program change numbers then you just set it in the clip properties

if you have a MIDI keyboard that sends Program changes then when overdub is on and the track is record armed and playing then the prog. change number will be recorded into the clip
