Hello,
I've read on a topic on the Ableton Forum that you use an electribe to program Impulse.
I'm looking for tool to program Impulse clip with visual feedback.
First I thought buying a PadKontrol and program my own software in native mode to translate sysex to cc etc... but it is a waiste of time, i think.
Question: Is it possible that Ableton stay the master clock and set the electribe as slave but electribe still send midi note on/off to ableton ?
So I can use the tempo of live but the notes comes from electribe to record armed impulse track.
Thanks in advance for your answer.

In theory yes. In real life it don't work out too good i think. Was a thread about it some pages ago, but the search function is dead...
I remember there being a problem with them too staying in sync. witch is wery stupid... Was better when you had the electribe as master though..
But man, go to a store and try it..

Yes it is. In live's midi pref set the midi out connected to your 'tribe sync to on, set the midi in connected to your 'tribe track to on. on your 'tribe set midi clock to ext.
If you're using an ER1 you'll need to use a pitch pluging to get the notes to line up with impulse, on an EM1 you can set the note values on the 'tribe (EM1 gives you 2 pitched step sequencers as well
With some work you can get the knobs to control knobs in live, you'll need to search the forum when the search function is working again for that though.
On my system I get better sync having Live as the master clock but it can still be flakey sometimes, YMMV.
Having hardware step sequencers for live devices can be great fun and very creative/liberating but getting it all set up and working reliably can be really frustrating, good luck.
All the best
