if it's only monophonic, I'd say that I'm still happy with my cumbersome Roland setup... still, can this thing be used with a bass guitar? If so I'm sold.

LoopStationZebra and Tone Deft,

Thanks, guys, for the positive feedback on my tunes! A lot of those are old... one was done 8 years ago with only 4-track cassette, Kurzweil K2000 sampler and an Oberheim Echoplex.

New album stuff coming out this year working vocals layers and FSU stuff but keeping it accessible.

I am such a purist wench about my percussion samples.. they either are recorded in the studio using various obkjects or parts of my cello, or in the field by me then twonked about in software, or scratch-programmed synth stuff. I don't get turned on at all by using existing sample libraries except for maybe the orchestral thing like Philharmonik... altho I'd rather have some of the Quest/East/West or Vienna Apassionata stuff.

Regarding ye new converter, I could certainly play just one note at a time... it would be a LOT of fun to have a percussion sample mapped to MIDI notes translated from cello audio.

Ah just gots ta get one o dese.

Cheerio,
Liz :P

I was seduced into ordering one of these fellas and it arrived earlier on this week. I had not played midi guitar before and so I didn't really know what to expect. It is very good at picking up the notes, bends, hammer-offs, vibrato etc but its just not quite as fun as I had hoped. I don't know whether its anything to do with my kit but the latency just seems a little too high to really enjoy it. Has anyone else had a go yet? If so do you feel the same as me?

I discovered the ztar on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FjYdxAxwaA) recently - now that looks swweeeeeeet!

Say, where did you pick yours up from? Shame about the latency. Did you notice this for all the patches you tried? Did you have a lot of VSTs going? Curious about the setup you had.
I came for the
But stayed for the :x

I've been messing about with the buffer size and sample rates and its actually a lot better than I originally thought. If I set the buffer size to 64 samples and sample rate to 96 kHz then I seem to get the best results with actually very little latency.

I just got one of these. The tracking seems pretty good, a bit of delay noticeable on the low notes on the E string but otherwise fast. Have to make sure you play cleanly or it triggers notes you didn't want.

It is a very strange feeling playing guitar and hearing synth noises come out. I only play for half hour, had some quite good results with tension especially the sitar patch.

Well pleased for what it cost and the simplicity of getting it working (I just plugged in and it worked)

Seems like an ebow with a portamento patch would be fantastic.

^ yes, just need to tweak some patches to make them work better with the G2M... didn't have much time last night just scrolled through looking for likely candidates.
