Missing drop area in session view
Missing drop area in session view
Hi all,
I'm currently trying to put together a single live set with all my tracks in so that I don't have to load individual files during a performance. Trouble is, I've got so many tracks now that I don't have the "Drop Files And Devices Here" area in the session view, so I can't import any more tracks in that view. I can still do it in the arrangement view but then I have to faff around to get the session view layout I want. Anyone else had this problem & know of a workaround or perhaps know what I'm doing wrong?
Cheers,
Pete

Re: Missing drop area in session view
What version of Live are you using? Are you using Live Lite or Live LE which has a track number limit? Otherwise if you have the full Live, you can always create a new track from the menu or with keyboard shortcuts and add your new clips into there...
Re: Missing drop area in session view
It's the full version, 7.0.14, so no track limit that I know of. I've just got so many tracks the drop area has gone! I usually drag the track I'm importing from the browser onto the drop area, which will create a number of tracks. I'll try your suggestion this evening and let you know.
Thanks,
Pete

Re: Missing drop area in session view
Ok, with the full Live your track count is unlimited. Try my suggestion above. Another option to free up space in session view is to hide the return tracks and also you can select multiple tracks and resize their column width to make them very narrow...

it also works when you drop clips on the return channels. Live seems to recognize the space covered by the return channels as drop-area as well.

Re: Missing drop area in session view
can't you just hit control+T and then drag & drop?
Re: Missing drop area in session view
Well well, finally got round to testing this. Turns out that pepezabala's method works but just adding a new track and dropping onto it doesn't.
When I drop over the return channels, all the tracks in my imported song get created and initialised correctly with the right plugins etc.
If I create a new track, then drop onto that, only the first track from the imported song is initialised and the rest are ignored (so I just end up with the first track from my song imported.)
Thanks all for your help!
