Yes, new Operator have both looped random noise (it isn't really noise, but random bits flying all over sounding like noise), and pure white noise as well.

Yeah man Analog is the bomb.Actualy a lot of synths in NI Reaktor 5 generate White Noise.I think OKI Computer Does too!

Im pretty sure that Live's Analog has it but dun'no the preset...!

that's what i thought, noise samples are lame. is there a problem in generating real white noise? there even is white noise in several free vstis... :!:
i also use analog for that, but i would love to have better noise in operator. let's wait for 8.

if using analog you don't need a preset. just turn it on and turn the oscillators off.

I think white noise uses a lot of cpu.

the new update to Operator has proper white noise

plus it has new filters - the ladders based on Moog and state variable filters

so I think you'd find Operator would be ideal for this now

but failing that there are some samples in the waveforms folder in the Library so you could even do it with Simpler

Did I hear somewhere that the new Operator in Live 8 has better white noise than before? ...or did I dream that...?
No, that is true. Operator in L8 has "noise looped" (as before) plus "noise white", which is real white noise.

I generate it in soundforge. As far as modulated white noise, massive works good for this

Always Soundforge. It's the way to go.

In Live 8 Operator there is a new true white noise

the old one is also still there for legacy sets.

I use:

TestTone - Signal generator with pink and white noise, impulses and sweeps
