OT: Where do you buy your music?
Looking to buy a whole lot of CD's that ive either pirated.. (yes curse me, whatever) or bought on itunes.
Decided to take my ass away from beatport for a while and go back the artists that inspired me and buy all their collections.
Just want to know where you all get your CD's from?

Re: OT: Where do you buy your music?
I know I'm swimming against the inevitable tide here, but I buy them almost exclusively from my local independent record shop. Anything that I know is good and that they haven't got in stock, I order with them and they can usually get it in a few days which gives me another excuse to wander in and hear about what's new...

I generally buy from Amazon as I can't get into town. However, there's a quality store called Fopp that I try to get to once a month.

^ I thought Fopp had closed down...
I have fond memories and an empty wallet from Fopp & Avalanche in Edinburgh.

I take trip into London every month or so and visit - Sounds of the Universe (SoulJazz) - http://www.soundsoftheuniverse.com
and visit the other shops that are still open in London too... trying to support the shops as much as possible... but I still buy a lot online amazon, ebay, etc.

Phonica Records - http://www.phonicarecords.co.uk
Vinyl Junkies - http://www.vinyl-junkies.com
Revival Records (the old Reckless shop) - http://www.revivalrecords.uk.com
Music & Video Exchange - http://www2.mveshops.co.uk/index.php
ifMusic - http://www.ifmusic.co.uk - you need to ring and make an appointment to visit!
The two Rough Trade shops - http://www.roughtrade.com - http://www.roughtrade.com/site/content. ... =east.html
Crazy Beat - http://www.crazybeat.co.uk
Soul Brother - http://www.soulbrother.com
Honest Jon's - http://www.honestjons.com
Fopp was bought by HMV when they flopped, and HMV has keep some stores open... so you can still empty your wallet on some bargain cds...

Re: OT: Where do you buy your music?
I do a lot of hunting through cut out bins. I usually get everything I want for half price, but I have to wait six months sometimes to find it. In Oz we get completely gouged for new CDs at retail (under the guise of protectionism for the Oz music industry).
also Itunes, and 7digital has some good specials on new stuff sometimes.
Man I used to love Fopp in Edinburgh, they seemed to have rows and rows of stuff I always wanted, at really reasonable prices.

Yeah, I remember wishing I could afford this:adventurepants_ wrote:Man I used to love Fopp in Edinburgh, they seemed to have rows and rows of stuff I always wanted, at really reasonable prices.

Recently, I've been buying CDs more and more from the online shop Boomkat (http://boomkat.com/). Great selection, great customer service. Slighty pricey sometimes but you find stuff there, you hardly find elsewhere.

I was really sad today to find out that a store that I've been shopping at since I could afford to buy music (that's some fifteen years) is shutting down; Selectadisk. I'm gonna have to go and throw a LARGE ammount of money at them this week, and give some of the sale stock a good home.

Depends on what you need.
Maybe directly from labels of those artists.
There's a lot of excellent labels and artists at Bleep http://beta.bleep.com/index.php , great ressource.

...buying music???
Re: OT: Where do you buy your music?
Does anyone have suggestions for US shops, especially online? I'm having a hard time tracking down decent tracks on vinyl lately.
