Elementary noob questions

Post by Ayers Rock » Wed Mar 04, 2009 12:41 pm

This is (probably) very basic. I come from Logic and wish to use both sequencers, here is what i haven't figured out yet:

1. How do I create markers in the arrange?
2. Look at all of the automation of one track.
3. I miss Logic's sample editor. Is it possible to mark a piece of audio - listen to it and saving it as a sample? I don't feel like I get the full overview of just playing an audiofile, and guessing where the exact piece I want is, so cmd+e just doesn't work that well for me.

PS: I'm only in live 6.

Hi,

For question 2, you can only view one automation per track in Live 6. In Live 7 they introduced multiple automation viewing.

Edit: and for question 1, take a look at "Locators" in the manual - maybe that achieves what you want. You can right click in the scrub area above the arrangement and add locators.

select it > ctrl/cmd+J - if you then want to find it or edit it outside live you have the edit button or 'show in explorer'

Thanks for the quick answers!

I plan on waiting for live 8, since I (by the time it is out) should be at a school, with the possibility of 50 % discount :)
