it was a little weak, but you have to consider it was a downloadable Xbox live arcade game. not a disc game.

the coolest part was playing Rorshach and watching his face move!

I was talking to the owner of a local comic shop who saw the movie, and rated it a 9 out of 10, and you know a comic geek is going to rate pretty hard, so things are looking up.

i had heard a lot of negative reviews and lots of negative speculation, but the recent reviews are sounding good.

I'm sure the R rating has something to do with it.

Lets hope the 'altered ending' doesn't ruin it. God damn 9/11 ruining everything.

@pulsoc: Hmmm... yeah, I think opinion will be wildly divided on the film. This review - http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/ne ... 3724.story - pretty much sums up how I felt about it. But I'd still recommend folks to see it if they're at all interested; it's not a bad film by no means and you may be one of the (lucky?) ones that really enjoys it... :)

Without spoiling it I think I can safely say the altered ending fits the story well and I think I even preferred it as more logically consistent compared to the original ending in the book.

Bold statement. I wonder how Alan Moore would take that! :D

i felt the actors/characters were trapped by the comic
only rorsharch and dr manhattan felt fleshed out
a lot of the little details were dropped which add to the string of coincidence of the book, the wristwatch the snow globe, etc
also swapping "your my thrill" for hallelujah in the sex scene was really bad
but overall the film made me appreciate just how awesome the book is

Just saw it. Here's my thoughts:

*new ending fit better than original ending, to be honest

*characters lacked a LOT of the depth they carried in the book. I could tell they tried to do it, but it felt force fed without allowing the audience to explore and come up with their own view of each individual character. Because of this, the emotional impact the book had was gone. The movie felt like they took certain scenes from the book and just stuck them all together like a collage, without really creating a real connection to these people and their various strengths, flaws, fears, and dreams.

With that being said, however, the movie wasnt BAD (although it might be if you never read the book), and I honestly cant think of a way I would have been able to do it differently.

Its something that probably should have stayed a book, or at least done in a mini series without all the nuances being shoved in your face in an attempt to make you feel something. Its a story that revolves around subtlety and a personal connection to the characters developed through one's own interpretation of them through the knowledge of their history and actions.

If you are a fan of the book, go see it anyway.

So basically its a crap film with a brilliantly edited and thought out trailer, thought as much. Sin city syndrome. 3hrs of slow motion, deep voices and no heart.

I think opinions are really divided on the film, especially for those that know and love the book - and for that reason, despite my lukewarm reception of the film, I'd still recommend seeing it if you're at all interested. Having said that, I really like the Sin City film, but haven't read the books (yet), so that might have something to do with it...
