This is not a personal attack to you but, do you believe the Native Americans are real happy about the stable home structures in California? Last I heard they would have kept there tipis if it was not for a culture of individuals who thought there infrastructure, education and housing was better.

When California gets hit by a big wave it will not fair all that much better. Have you not seen what happens when they get alot of rain?

If you really like safe beaches I would look into some property in Arizona.

.... in the infamous words of Maynard James Keenan - Mom please flush it all away. Learn to swim.

My point was that we are all in this world together, yet some of us have a much greater scope of opportunity because of the countries we live in.

He said it wasn't a personal attack, don't turn it into one.

I want to help. I jumped in on the Live Aid thread but, I guess I am having a hard time with what the country that I live in has become (USA) and I am not sure if it is the best thing for the world. And, it is sad to say but as soon as countries of this nature send aid to those in need they will expect something in return. Nothing is free... not even are aid.

Hopefully we can all see ourselves as one finally when the threats become non-judgemental and we are all facing them. This was what I eluded to with the comment about Mother Earth.

Popular disasters ! It is sad reality as much as I am concerned about my native country it is so sad to see that Sudan lost in the popular disaster contest. At least for some time there was some attention on this "uninteresting country"- if only they would have petroleum. The recent west Sudan conflict might be new but there is the horror going on for over 10 years in the South Sudan very few people are aware of. It was the most horrifying to hear from North Sudanese Muslims how they feel about non muslim South Sudanese "blacks".whom they do not consider human being since they"have no religion". Does not matter that this "non religon" is much more ancient and more sophisticated then their superior Islam. The complexion point is even more tragic as the sudanese muslims are actually of black complexion themselves and hardly look like Arabs and would be discriminated by the fair complaxion Arabs. Yet they seem to be delighted to have somebody darker then themselves, whom they consider lower beings, chase them, hunt them, rape, kill, sell on slaves markets and the rest of the world does not even want to know about it. This is to me the worlds most tragic spot . specially because no one wants to know about it.
