[amo] Looper "Undo" doesn't work as expected.

Post by Fizmarble » Sat Feb 28, 2009 5:58 am

I don't know if it has been addressed yet, but Looper's Undo function doesn't always go back to the last state of the Looper which in my opinion is unexpected an therefore a bug. Let me explain. If I record a loop in Looper and clear it, then record a new loop and undo that, I think it should go back to the cleared state. Instead, it goes back to the last recorded loop. In a live looping setting, this can be disastrous as I have cleared my looper and moved onto the next song and started a loop, but if the loop isn't recorded as intended, and I hit undo, then it throws the previous song's loop into the mix and ruins everything.

Same here.
Sure it could be a problem, but sure it's also nice.
If your new recorded loop is not good then you should hit clear rather than undo.

I don't see how it could be a good thing. If you clear the looper and then do another action, undo shouldn't go two actions back. There is no other precedent for this type of behavior. Undo should always undo your last action.

Wrong. check out SooperLooper : 1 undo and 1 redo buttons, you can undo back to the first layer, layer by layer and redo the same : great !

Now that I think of it, Ableton's Looper should have Undo and Redo as separate buttons. But I guess I should make that a feature request.
