if yes, i don't get it... so much money spend on that but using a fw410?

sorry to say, but feels like berlin clubs buying great soundsystems and not treating the rooms or fancy gear all summing through a behringer desk or behringer patchbay... what's the point?

i have actually seen several studios here with an odd chain of signal quality...
Firstly: Nice of you to look and respond - fyi I also see where you are coming from :)

Second: It is a Euphonix MC mix

Third: Thanks to the fw410 I got ableton LIVE (4 lite). TBH LIVE (originally) was only meant to be a dj tool but after a number of random episodes (too boring to explain) it is my main DAW!!! FYI i don't like the fw 410 tbh i prefer the macbook soundcard!!!

edit: i should add that i don't use the euphonix at all because of the original setup. I am HOPING the new setup will help :)

Fourth: I will happily put my hands up and say my gear owns me.... My pocket > my talent :)
he he :D , hey i was just wondering... then again sometimes choices are made out of the stomach or some offer comes along... (iknow, iknow)i was just curious... because i always wonder about odd signal chains, where people invest in so much nice stuff and then built in a point of "complete destruction" makes you really wonder, that's all.

I've had a FW410 for about 5 years now and it's been fine
it's all relative... i was just wondering spending a grand on a controler and having a FW 410  seems odd.

it's like there is a rule of thumb... for a homestudio 40-50% of your budget should go into speaker and room acoustics, if needed.
and then go down the chain from the speaker end, excluding instruments... cause they are 100% matter of personal taste.

or to reverse it, if you have an oldskool hifi, the needle, followed by the turntable, followed by the speakers (this order in raising quality) makes sense... 97% of hi fi freaks do it the other way around!!! but hey millions eat Mc D and think it's good or reasonable, so what!?

What interface would u recommend? I work entirely with vsts and the keyboard connects via my kore interface.
depends on your budget, RME, Apogee, Motu (even we have trouble with our V4 HD, driver issues under XP, yes my stupid boss forces us to use microschrott,
i got already heart attacks and grey hair from this shit after 6 month!!! )
and metric halo are very decent.

with a RME you hardly can get wrong, i'd say. many of the freelance engineers we book regular have fireface 400/800 and they are just damn GOOD!

another thing about M-Audio stuff in general... i believe they used to make very decent hardware, but since avid is involved there quality shrinked and there support and driver developement sucks.

for example i think, and of course it is in relation to the price!!! but the old 2496 simple 2channel PCI card is the best thing out there, nothing comes even remotely close to it for now about 60 euro 8O .
believe it or not, there where several mastering studios i know, who used that card, and never told and never received a complain of there work.

ok, here are some new ones, nothing major changed, just a few refinements and a serious cable tidy up! not just because of the optic but because to keep audio streams from power cables (mains) apart to avoid introducing noise. i am also happy with the room, it sounds cream without doing anything... lucky me.

it is now perfect for me and all i need for home, the comfort and the feel of my working place is important to me,
everything else... like finest mics, or fancy outboard or huge analog or digital mixing desks, etc. i take/use from/at work... which with the exception of mics i actually never do. no reason for it. it does not really make the music any better, there are other reasons for using that kind of gear.

and in case someone is curious, the little yamaha thingy is actually a pocket sampler, the SU10, i made complete tracks with that and sampling from a tapedeck, i keep it because it was my first ever purchase... not using it anymore as a sampler, but it still gives me 12 midi buttons for clips or the like and it has a ribbon band that also sends midi...

ahh... and the little animal in one of the pics, that's Disco Milka, she says it's nice to meet you!

p.s. sorry again for the poor picture quality.

except if i could afford PMC, i would never ever use anything else again... Happy?

i used to have a pair of 1029a and the sub that goes with it, when i moved from London to Bratislava, Slovakia a so called friend of mine stole them... and there was no way getting them back from him... after the move i had a hard time in a new country, and there was nothing in this world that kept me away from saving and nearly starving for it to buy genelecs back, they are worth every damn single penny and the best investment in my entire setup... and the best i ever made and would do again and again...

no joke.

and i used to work a few times in studios with the wall mount series genies... OHHH... MY GOD!!!

One of these days, my hankering for a PadKontrol will leave me. Won't it?

Out of the picture, on the right of the DJ table. I use the Alesis when DJing, and the Mackie's when writing.
