The problem you are referring to only occurs if you change banks externally (i.e. on your controller). Takeover mode works fine if the bank change is done within Live which is how it works with the APC40.

Eh. Hate to revisit this. But after a couple of new takeover threads appeared, I think it needs revisiting.

When it comes to the FADERS, will the APC support proper takeover mode?

1. I adjust the first fader on Track 1 in Bank 1.
2. Then change to Bank 2 and tweak the same fader for Track 9.
3. I switch back to Bank 1 and start to move the same fader.
4. Will takeover/pickup mode work properly? Will we have a smooth pickup, or will the level in Live jump and shimmy!?
5. More importantly, will takeover/pickup mode work properly for the faders after MULTIPLE bank changes?

Thanks :)
I came for the

Wait... so you CAN re-map the upper-right knobs?? you can remap everything?? i heard that you cant remap it.
in order to remap it, do you require maxforlive?

Everything works fine for me with the APC40. I adjust the first fader, move to another bank of tracks, and tweak the same fader. Switch back to bank 1 and move the same fader. It's doesn't jump. It waits till pickup as it should. Works fine after multiple bank changes.

And yes, you can do custom midi mapping, as you would with any MIDI remote controller, with the APC40 (and you don't need Max for Live). You have 4 banks of the top encoders and 8 banks of the lower 8 encoders.
Best,
Jesse

Trigger Finger is great for firing clips - its cheap and it works great, 16 big pad, loads of banks.

i've been wondering this for a while:

how does the apc 'change' functionality. like going from 'regular' apc to say, the step sequencer, or any other max for live hack, then back.

will the code be in a MFL inst/effect on a track? how does it work?

Will the Device Control section remember which rack or processor was selected in each channel ? How about accross banks ?

Seems important to me IMHO.

APC 40 question:

When using folder tracks to enclose multiple tracks within it, how is the folder track appearing in the clip display of the APC? Does the _closed_ folder track appear as a one column in the APC clip grid OR is it appearing as many columns as there are tracks enclosed in the folder?

If it appears as one column when closed it rules, if not, theres a certain amount of suck present.

Any chance of an official response to  I want an APC but I live in Australia ?

Do we wait or pre-order to get one from the US?

Cheers

i think this question was answered some time ago. they said that u have 1 track-column on the apc when the group is closed and all individual tracks when it`s open

I'm sure that this question has probably been answered already, and I'm sorry to waste anyone's time but I just wanted to check on something. The APC can only trigger 8 tracks at once? I take it that you can make trigger more than 8 scenes though by grouping tracks and then the APC will control these together as one. The APC I take it will not be able to trigger more than 8 solo tracks, so say I have 16 tracks - I won't be able to trigger these on the APC without binding some of them together into a group track?

i think u can simply launch more than 8 when you have a moderate clip-quantize. switch to tracks 9-16 and press the additional clips you wanna launch
or do the classical way and arrange them in a scene

Sorry if that question has been answered already, haven't read all of these 22 pages. So far the APC 40 focuses on live performance and work in session view. Apart from the mixing functions, how can i benefit from that machine if i mostly work in arrangement view ? Are there special helpful functions ?
Thanks...!
