why not just have a soft taco?

I am utterly appalled by your complete lack of respect for the taco. fajita mixings in a taco is a fajita taco, likewise one should not eat fajitas without homemade warm soft tortillas.

aisling - my fave food in SF is the super quesadilla Castillito and El Castillito Taqeria on Church by the Safeway. ask for a little extra red sauce. FWIW the burrito was invented on Valencia street, somewhere around 18-24th streets.



of late it's been baja style fish tacos in a SOFT shell.

but a pollo asada super burrito the size of your thigh the the yardstick of civilization.

or some slap yo mamacita enchiladas. I could and sometimes do eat Mexican food for every meal.

it's amazing how simple they are to make and yet they taste sooooo damn good!

the only thing I don't like about getting older is that I can't plow through a plate of jalapenos after 10pm lest I suffer the bowel beast the next day. some nights it's totally worth it.

Ok look, seriously:

A fajita is grilled meat with grilled onions and peppers, and some pico de gallo (I mean salsa).

A taco is 2 soft corn tortillas with some (generally stewed) meat and salsa. (That's it. Maybe cheeze. Those trucks that park down in the Mission or on East 14th on Oakland. Yes.)

A burrito is everything wrapped in a flour tortilla.

Then there are the hard shell tacos...I am not sure of their provenance, but I am pretty sure that they are not so much the real deal as they are a popularization of American fast food. (Not that there aren't good ones out there- but the point is that you should NOT imagine a hard shell first thing when somebody says "TACO").

I grew up in Cali, I've lived in Texas. Now I am confined to the outer confines of the burrito sphere, another continent, its awful. El Faralito, I salute you.

I am there with the falafel....I lived in Israel for 8 years. I'll venture further to say what about the good old Indian Buffet? Lamb curry, with all you can eat chicken tandoori. Fuck just wrap the shit in some nann and puff , lord shiva would even be proud to call it a burrito

See the thing is with Mexican, you're like, hey I could cook tonight, or I could spend six(6) dollars on an absolutely bomb ass meal in a tortilla, or get four(4) tacos. And its tasty, real food, filling, and well balanced.

I keep threatening to open a real taqueria in Paris. There's almost no competition in the price range. Plus I'd make at least as much dinero as I make now.

I do love Indian buffet, don't get me wrong. But you're lookin' at at least 12 (insert local currency here).
