led ring midi controller

Post by basskillaversus » Thu Mar 12, 2009 12:15 pm

Hey PPL!

I Searching a midi controller with led ring display, couse it's good for vst synth, when I change the presets or something in live act.
So I found only the novation nocturn, and the behringer bcr2000.
The nocturn is not bad but it have only 8 knobs, maybe the behringer is better but the behringer quality is not the best in the world :)

Do you known another controller in this category?

Thanx For help!

Sincerely, I can affirm that the BCR is a real good product.

Yeah, the BCR2K's rock solid. One thing they got right!

... A bit like the tasty blonde in the Munsters.

Can't confirm that the BCR works well. After 10 seconds mine stops working. I told the Behringer support, they didn't help me (there's a thread about the whole story here).

I for myself can only discourage you from buying one. I know that there are thousands of working units around the world (mine did its job for some time, too) but it's worthless unless they improve their support.

I use to own a BCF2000 and for that price no one can say the quality isn't there.
berhinger has one of the best way to reduce prices keeping very descent quality. also they might "cheat" copying other brands higher price range top models (ie mackie with C4 and HR monitors). the bad thing known with them is, as said, that such industrial prices reduces may return a bad support. but if you have one chance on thousand to get a corrupt product...
I owned 3 mackie models and the 3 berhinger "copies" (monitors, midi control, 16 ch console)
of course mackie is always better, but comparing the total price differents is so huge compared to relative "quality" difference of the products, what manage to achieve berhinger is really awesome acc to me...

If it was for dealing audio I would hesitate, but for midi control that only deal data, it's really fast decided BCF/R are awesome for the price, i was affraid but the pots/faders are quite good and the pots have a push button that is a really good add.

the novation must be nice too, more portable and you might be able to programm bank/shift functions, so I would say it really depends on what you wanna do with it, Is it djing with few well chosen fx of is complex live that need instant access to many controls, if you wanna display synth settings the BCR will certainly be better, as you ll have quick access to 32 parameters x 20 presets if i well remember.

So Thanx for posts!
I known the behringer is better couse it have more knobs, and ok the price is cheap than other stuffz (mackie or something else).
But if I have a chance I choose other one stuff, but I see, just these controllers are usable in this category.

I've read on here that the C4s don't work well with Live, but I'm not sure of the details on that.

hmmm.....then ableton needs to do mackie c4 support ASAP,we all love live,we all love LOTS of knobs, and this baby has screens to give you visual feedback, combined with the mackie control universal pro, this could be awesome(and a heavy load to carry those two mackie-tanks,but hey, that's the price you pay)
c'mon Abes,mackie c4 support please!!!!!

it's either that or a jazzmutant Lemur.......(because it's cheaper and less heavy than those two mackie tanks combined, and attracts chicks to your flashy performance,IF they like bling bling that is......that is NOT to say that the Lemur is just bling or flashy,it's AWESOME!!!!!))

ah,forget it,i'll get a lemur(once those albums start selling)

i don't own either controller, but in the BCR's favor, Bjorn Vayner of covops.org wrote a pretty full-featured application for it: http://www.covops.org/index.php/Freebie ... r-1.0.html

he's got videos of it in action somewhere on the site.
