Ok,
As I write this it seems like an odd topic, but it's been bugging me.
For some reason, I feel compelled to use different vsts for different tracks or layers in racks. Maybe it's old habits from the dark ages before software synths where one instrument played one part.
Is there any advantage (cpu, memory) in using different vsts? I would think perhaps the opposite --using the same vst multiple times, maybe it can share memory per instance (in layman's terms). Then again, is there any danger in using the same vst, say, 5 times in a layered rack? Conflicts of some kind?
The main reason I ask is that when I'm looking for sounds I keep coming back to one all the time over several other synths, but if I use it I consider it "used"
