[awi] "warp from here" no warp markers created

Im warping house tunes, mp3's, when it works as expected, its fine but ive just warped 6 tunes, and 3 of them havent created warp markers, my method is as follows...

look for the first transient, double click to create 1st marker, press set 1.1.1. here, press warp from here from that marker, if i keep moving through the song, warp from here eventually creates markers.

Just not sure if thats expected behaviour

edit: this has happened on all the last tunes ive tried to warp

It may be that the tracks are straight, and don't need warp markers? Are they playing in sync after you've warped them?

I thought that was the case, but keep going through the song and they were out, if only slightly, they are mp3's ripped from vinyl, maybe thats having an effect, ill try it on non ripped mp3's, even taking this into account i am finding warping much easier in 8, just thought id check if this was normal. Sounds like it is.

If they are ripped from Vinyl, they indeed should require some warp markers, as Vinyl always fluctuates at least a little. One other thing that comes to my mind: was the analysis of the file finishes, before you tried "warp from here"?

Just to follow up, there is a problem with my files, converting the affected ones to aiff solves the problem.


nb, i had the same behaviour in 7, which led me to try converting.

That is also interesting. So, you've got mp3 files that "have problems", and the kind of problem is that some warping is not working well? That sounds strange, because mp3 files are converted by Live, so, the used files is either Wav of Aif, depending on your Preferences.

I'm wondering what's the difference between the tracks that work, and the ones that don't. If you're on PC, do you have Quicktime player installed? That is the preferred decoder, over the Windows default.

Do you have a possibility to upload one of these tracks somewhere, and send a link to [email protected]? With a reference to this thread?
