Just as the topic says, I have a Live set with one track holding "Ambient Bells & formants" and Vocoder.
For some reason, at the moment unknown to me, the Vocoder overdrives to such an amount the nothing is heard, until it releases - when a loud pop is heard. After this I cannot play anything with live - not even load a new track - I simply have to quit Live and restart it.
! month ago (or something like it) I sent a bug report via mail on this regard, but got no response. So I'll try again, this time in the forums - is this by design or is there some serious flaw in the vocoder?
If you want to see it for yourself, here it is: http://www.frankbolero.com/vocoderoverdrive.zip - BE WARNED HOWEVER OF THAT POPPING NOISE!

Don't anyone else get the samme artifact when you use the above ALS-file?
It's silent at first and then it rises to a peak and some seconds later (after stopping playback) there's this "pop" coming from the speakers and then Live will be dead silent until you restart it.

Re: Vocoder overdriving madly, only remedy ->end program
Hi,
I was able to reproduce the overdrive, but I didn't have to restart Live afterwards. Just disabling the vocoder OR turning "formants" back up did the trick for me.
Which system/version are you on?

Hi, and sorry for my delayed answer.spray wrote:Hi,

I am on a MacBook Pro (1st gen) 2 GHz 2 Gb Ram, running Mac OS X 10.5.6 using the internal sound card. My only way of getting some sound back from Live, after the volume has overdriven and the speakers has "popped", is to quit Live and restart - opening a whole new set doesent do it. Worth noting is that upon quitting Live there is another loud pop from the speakers.
Best regards,
Frahnque

Re: [5173] Vocoder overdriving madly, only remedy ->end program
We fixed the Overdrive issue in the most recent beta.
So please check how it behaves in Live 8.0b21.

With b21 I can no longer reproduce the Overdrive issue as I could in earlier versions.
