Another beta version is online!!!

Post by Alex » Thu Jan 06, 2005 9:21 pm

Hi folks,

We have just uploaded a new beta version of the upcoming Live update.
The final version will be released in about 2 weeks, (around the
same time as the NAMM show, strange coincidence. :)

When running this beta you will probably "feel" that there is also something
new coming. (Just take a look of the preferences dialog.)
Speculations are allowed (and welcome :) ) but the secret will not be disclosed
before the final release.

We decided to make this "some kind" of public beta, but with very reduced
support from our side. That means, please send your Live 4.0.5 beta feedback
ONLY to [email protected].

Please do not post feedback in the forum or send to our support.
Please do not send general Live questions or feature wishes.

Current version: Live 4.0.5b3

Limitations:
- a Live 4 serial is needed to unlock
- will run only until 15th January (will be replaced then with another version)
- does not contain Japanese and Spanish language support
- does not contain Manuals
- does not contain Starter Sets

thanks and regards,
Alex

sooo you will have a new product.

obviously this product will tie into live...
this product would be either a sound sculpting tool, sound generating tool or a content management tool otherwise it would be a product that manipulates live somehow...

ok so i've narrowed it down to 4 possibilities... any hints guys?

i doubt it will be an arpeggiator, even though some would wish so.
an arp, is just soo... so... not like Ableton. i dunno.

my guess is either a sound generator, or better arrangement tools.

Some Traktor-esque plugin that allows for complex DJaying kinds of things :)
no longer needed. this is for you. you know who you are.

Well, to make this a possible "Reason" killer, what is missing with the current devices? We have a sampler (Simpler) and we have a drum module (Impulse)... hmmm, what could it be then?

sweet, I could DEF see it being a video based product, syncing to the audio loops... now THAT would be BADASS. Especially if they implemented non-destructive ways of altering the video in realtime.

The thing is, it has to be big enough that we'd be willing to pay extra $$$ for it. I'm not sure another live device would do that, unless it was huge (like a fully featured dj or video app)
no longer needed. this is for you. you know who you are.

This is great... a modular approach will keep Live in the more reasonable price range.

Ah Ha! A new "PRODUCTS" tab in prefs....

Im guessing a whole new, LIVE specific line of instruments...ones that need to be registered...hence the PRODUCTS tab. Reason has a similar thing for registered users on the Props website.

Maybe Ableton bought out a small, sound creation boutique...like CamelAudio or something like that ..
eDrummer: Roland Vdrum kit Live 8/ MacBookPro 2.5 mhz & 2gb. Motu Ultralite.. Homemade midi-triggering pad for LIVE's filters , clips , & record buttons. Hopelessly hooked on live looping.
