Delay when recording into Ableton

Post by lyxl202 » Thu Mar 19, 2009 8:35 pm

I am trying to record in real time from my MPC into Ableton. There seems to be a delay in recording. Is there a way I can fix this?

it's a long answer, start looking up "audio latency" as well as "midi latency." both contribute to what you're experiencing.

play with the track delay (look it up in the manual.)

options-preferences-midi
go to the port where the mpc midi is connected, hit the right facing triangle and adjust the midi delay there.

I think there's a tutorial built into Live on this.

There will always be a delay when you are recording, and the recorded material will allways have a small empty space at the start. To get rid of the delay turn on hardware monitoring of the chanel you are recording. this will let you monitor the direct signal.
When the recording is finished, calibrate the sample using the start marker.
I hope this will be usefull for you.
