info please: drum rack macros to control selected pad only?
i have a drum rack loaded with simplers.
is there a way to setup rack macros so that a twist of the macro knob affects only the selected simpler? and then when i select another simpler (pad) and twist the same macro knob it affects only the newly selected simpler?

Not as far as I am aware, no. The macros only work by pre-assignment to controls within the rack.
You're talking about 'blue hand' control of a simpler, right? Why not just blue-hand it and set your control params on your hardware?

Re: info please: drum rack macros to control selected pad only?
what i'm really looking for is a way to easily edit individual hits in a drum rack like i can on the mpc, where i can hit a pad and use the same controller knob to edit a particular parameter on each individual drum (filter, sample start/end, etc.) i'm trying to easily tweak individual hits without touching the mouse.

Re: info please: drum rack macros to control selected pad only?
edit ok i see what you want then just go to each pad click on the simpler and hit group it will give you macros for each pad and that way each pad you click has its own macros. ( They will be premapped so you have to click each macro and go to unmap first so you can enter map mode and set up new maps for each simpler you will also have to rename them to the new parametrs )

Re: info please: drum rack macros to control selected pad only?
thanks for the input. i gave that a shot, but it's not quite what i'm looking for. i'm probably not explaining myself well.
lets say i setup a "slicing default" drum rack with one simpler on it, and a macro control on the drum rack mapped to filter cutoff for the simpler.
when i slice an audio clip to a new midi track using that default what i get is a drum rack with a different simpler on every pad with an individual slice on it, and that cutoff macro knob affects the cutoff of the simpler on every pad.
what i would like to do to be able to have that filter cutoff knob only affect the cutoff on the simpler of the pad i just hit.
that way i could use one drum rack macro control to adjust the filter of my kick, then hit my snare and use the same knob to adjust the filter of the snare while leaving the filter settings of that previously tweaked kick alone.
the fact that there is an option for auto-selecting chains in drum racks makes me think that this would be possible, but i just can't figure out how.
again, i appreciate your thoughts on this.

Re: info please: drum rack macros to control selected pad only?
EDIT this is the version 2 akai drum rack that will switch pads automatically for you as version 1 did not.
This is a instrument rack with a drum rack and a simpler on every pad same as you would see only built from scratch so each pad is seprate and has a macro control for each pad. I tested it with my emu mp7 as a midi controller and i switched pads and was able to set each macro for each simpler indipendent of each other. I only make a 16 pad version but if you need more just ctrl+ right click and drag any drum pad to a empty one to create a new blank pad. When you go to assign samples you have to drop them into simpler not the drum rack but it is triggered by the drum rack.

If you want it to do mpc style chops where each note cuts the next just open the drumrack chain and set the samples to all the same choke group or # such as 1. You can set up to 16 diffrent choke groups as well.

Re: info please: drum rack macros to control selected pad only?
I seriously asked the exact same question last week! I'ma try that file the guy gave you, see how that goes.
Here's my thread: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=110225
What I've ended up doing is to delete all the macros, and not even use em. Then I have a CONTROL SURFACE enabled for my midi device (ie oxygen keyboard, bcr2000, etc.). If you set the rack to "auto-select", whichever pad you play will bring up the sample.
Now here's the annoying part I was trying to work around: You have to physically click with the mouse on the device (after its automatically brought up on screen). Then the blue hand will appear on it and you can use the appropriate knob to control whichever parameter you want. Pretty nice! But, like I said before, if anyone knows a way so the blue hand automatically goes to whichever device is on-screen I'd be extremely grateful!
Hope this helps.

hi,
solacerodgers, the link to the adv file is no more available, I have the same problem, can you put another link to the file?
the thing is How control each simpler parameters independent in a druma rack (pitch, attack etc) from one pad of the drum rack to other in the same drum rack

Once you have it loaded you have to make sure you enable auto on the davice rack for some reason it will not save this as a preset with auto enabled it frees you to push a button and it jumps to that pad and its simpler with its OWN macro controls so each pad can have diffrent settings for macros and setup.

Re: info please: drum rack macros to control selected pad only?
This is quite easy to do with live 8.
Put an instrument rack between the drum rack and the simpler. Set up your macros on this new rack. In live 8 you can assign which track is instant mapped (and you wil see the little Blue Hand) to midi by going into midi map mode and clicking on the rick title. So Assign the pad for each hit to also select that hits instrument rack which will then allow you to modify those controls without effecting the other hits.

I seem to be almost there ..selthym wrote:This is quite easy to do with live 8.

but when i "Assign the pad for each hit to also select that hits instrument rack" it no longer plays the note...Maybe i could also map it the pad on drumrack? Doesnt seem to work.
