As in, it has gone up in price.. not I cant afford it as must as I could last year.

And yeah, drugs seem to be steady at the same rate.
Could be something to do with Sterling divebombing 30% last year and it's taken the markets a while to re-adjust. Just checked out a few things I bought last year on thomann and they're pretty much the same price. Still cheaper for me to buy a lot of stuff from uk online stores than eurozone atm though.

What did you notice going up ?
Access stuff went up. Rolands stuff went up. Korgs stuff went up. In fairness they are right but I think it is due to exchange rates. Fairly stupid policy in a recession. Or is it? Charge 20% more to allow for downturn and manufacture less?? It could make sense.

I manage to do my weekly shop for about £30 - it's been steady like that for about 6 months. I do, however, know what y'all are saying about gear prices being on the up.

I'm not sure how people can say that 'money is worth less' rather than 'shit costs more' as the denominations are exactly the same. Someone care to explain? I'm not too au fait on all this stuff (prefer to keep my head in the sand, and just 'do'!)

Sterling is worth about 30% less this year as opposed to last, so people importing anything into the UK are starting to get hit by those prices and will pass them on to the consumer, on the flip side, over here stuff is getting cheaper but our economy was overinflated anyway and stuff still costs more over here.

That said we can't sell anything to the UK from here so our exports are getting hiding, hence jobs, you guys are in a prime position to keep exports going well to Europe and come out of this better. Traditionally when the Irish pound was worth too much against sterling, the Irish govt devalued it to keep exports up and stuff got dearer here. We're in the Euro now so we can't do that, so we'll just have to sit and weather it out.

is it my crazy imagination or are net importers currencies devaluing and net exporters currencies strengthening?

Proper. They still want something for nothing, too. I was trying to sell some kit t'other month and people were like 'That's not worth that!' and I was asking around £100 less than retail! Shady shits.

^ interesting. I remember prices going up for that stuff when we were buying construction materials for a large scale Burning Man project. that was 2004, the stores were blaming it on the Iraq war or rather the 'rebuilding' of Iraq.

construction materials are extremely volatile in price, like oil, for similar reasons.

its a total herd mentality- once the market decides its boom time, we build build build as fast as possible, overreach, and bust.

then theres too much housing, office space, and (now) no credit, so demand evaporates, and prices plummet for a while.

stupid system.

this is more on the subject of taxes, but I just had to raise the price of the cigs in our store $1 a pack (usd) thats craziness. that puts marlboro's at $529 a pack right now.
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.
