TBH I don't follow it myself, I just felt obliged to post a tip. all that fiddlyness with electrics is what makes me love my acoustic. I'd rather not plug in and then mess with EQ. gain settings, sure, EQ, I'd rather do that with my right hand on the guitar.

To get some busier, funky basslines going without messing up the timing, I've been dropping the tempo down to a comfortable level and then warping back up once I'm done. I love that that there isn't any noticeable drop in sound quality when I do this.

^^^^^every time ive tried that the bass on playback sounds like its `warbling` .............??

use a different warp mode. I can't advise on which one because I just try them all to see what works. I can say that, ironically enough, complex mode sucks balls.

I have a Fender Jazz bass and a hot-rodded 80's JB Player strat style guitar and an acoustic.

Both electric bass and guitar go through my Focusrite Platinum Tone Factory pre-amp as DI and then into the M-Audio Delta-44. The Focusrite is the best bass pre-amp I've ever used though for recording I bypass the compressor, eq, etc. and send the signal unaltered. In Live I use IK's Amplitube 2 on both, usually using the Bass2 setting for bass. I never know what the guitar sound is going to be. One of these days I'm going to get the Stomp IO so I can use the wah-wah.

When recording your guitar part it's a good idea to make sure the signal is pretty hot going "to tape." I try to get my amp sounds right before I play the part because the interaction of the guitar and the rig is an important part of the sound. I know a lot of guitarists that keep the guitar volume down and crank up the amp or they dial back the volume and tone a little and boost things at the amp. I tend towards wide open on the guitar and boost the signal for solos or dial back the presence for quieter stuff.

The acoustic guitar I record using my AK4047 about six inches from the sound hole. Sometimes I'll also put a small condenser pointed at the 12th fret but you have to be careful about moving the guitar around while playing as it can bring in weird phase cancellation. If you've just got an SM57 or like that, experiment with pointing it at the soundhole or the 12th fret to see which fits your mix better. The 12th fret will bring out picking details and give a crisp, clear sound while pointing at the soundhole will give you thicker tone and lots more bass. With the large diaphragm mic I put it near the soundhole as it picks up a lot more of the nuance of the guitar than a dynamic mic does and I can always use eq to drop the bass and make the guitar sit more prominently in the mix.
