recovering crashed documents?
recovering crashed documents?
my computers power was unplugged while I was working on a song and when i turned it back on to open the track, the normal recover option came up.
then when I tried to open the recovered document ableton crashed again.
this has created one big cycle, niw is there any way to open the recovered file separately?

Re: recovering crashed documents?
Didn't see this post before I posted. I am having the exact same issue and I absolutely have to recover this session for a label. I hadn't saved for a long while because I needed to undo and assumed Ableton would recover for me as it has done every other time for the last few years. Unfortunately it crashed and won't restore. Losing my mind. Anyone please help us with this issue!!!!!
The Undo.cfg file is 153mb and the last save point .als was 26mb just to give an idea of the session progress that needs to be recovered...

Re: recovering crashed documents?
while in a new live set, try expanding the damaged set inside the browser. see if your able to drag the individual tracks from that set into the new one? you will have to redo any fx in the master and any returns i think, but your samples/arrangement/automation/fx in tracks should all be there. hope this works/helps. Re: recovering crashed documents?
The problem is that the last save point is early on in the session. The set isn't damaged per say - just the Undo.cfg file. I need to recover the information from the undo history like my life depended on it as doing this all over would be a miracle.
Re: recovering crashed documents?
i thought you were unable to get into that set without live crashing?

Re: recovering crashed documents?
Thanks for your help - sorry so confusing. Here's what I mean:
I was working on a set through the night and around 5am it crashed. I didn't think anything of it and opened Live again knowing it would simply restore from the saved undo history....but it didn't. It just crashes after a few minutes after approving the restore from undo history dialogue.
It is saved previously at the beginning of the night - 6 hours of work earlier. Let's call it Project.als (26mb). I can open this no prob but it's missing everything important. I need to access what's in the 153mb Undo.cfg file somehow. I didn't save it since that initial save because I needed to undo portions and Live obviously doesn't allowing undoing after a save. Stupid now, I realize.
So essentially I have to somehow get Live to open the set from the Undo history. I have the Undo.cfg and UndoMarker.cfg copied to the desktop, including variations iterations of the Undo.cfg file thanks to Time Machine on my Mac backing up at different times throughout the night. However none of them will open when renamed and placed into user/library/preferences/ableton/Live 7.0.14/
