SF - where's the scene(s) of good music?

Post by nowtime » Sat Mar 21, 2009 4:57 pm

I'm sick of the suburbs. There's no music scene whatsoever up here. I need to be with musicians!.
What's the dubstep in 2009? Is jazz dead in the city? I haven't lived here since mid-late Nineties and there was a budding jazz and hiphop fusion scene. The Brown Felinis and other's at the Elbo room. I love to dance, I love good live musicianship, I love improvisation. I want to be entertained thusly. I wanna play!

Check out The Shotgun Wedding Quintet - incredible horn section, live looping, improv, freestyles - top notch musicianship, great songs, great mc and dj.

In fact, any group from the Jazz Mafia in SF will likely not disappoint.

personally, i love SF music scene moreso than Austin. SF's scene is moreso diversity than any other city.

Great city for music. However, I just wish that the venues here would invest into better sound. It seems like just about every other show in SF has some problem with their sound.

if you have to ask... there is no scene here, no music, nothing to do. stay away.

christ, the last thing we want are more bridge and tunnel people laming the place up with their 'city outfits' turning every event into amateur night.

shut down BART, blow up the bridges, clog the tunnel!!!

:P

'every other show has sound problems' uhhh major exaggeration.

I get what you mean about the bridges, but I've not a clue what you're referencing about fashion.

Yeah - I guess "scene" and "music" is not very distinct. I am talking about forms of music that combine make-your-body-move grooves with live instruments or controllerism.
