ALESIS PHOTON X25 controller

Does anyone own this controller ? If so, what's your take on it.

I used to own one, I sold it because I wanted more keys.

Good points: it is pretty well built, good complement of knobs and buttons which feel nice.

Bad point: as the previous poster said the xyz controller dosn't really work very well in practice. It detects your hand movment over it OK but actually getting it to control anything is very difiicult.

I have one (but it's out of commision now). It worked well in XP.. then when I switched over to Vista the thing crapped out. A few months later Alesis came out with new drivers and way to reflash the ram on the unit. This process was complicated but it did get the X25 working again. After about a week it crapped out again on me and I went through the same process again. It then worked about two weeks and failed again.

Now all of these problems could be isolated to my unit, but eventually I just moved on to a different controller. Just something to keep in mind. I think you can get a better controller for the same ind of money.

i own one but when i bought my Xio, i stopped using it and haven't taken it out again.... maybe i should, might be useful to have two separate keyboards.

by far my favorite thing about this controller is that it is also a two channel audio interface i have never seen another two octave midi controller with input and output the controller itself has been good to me I love it
