Another beta version is online!!!
..
what I don't understand is that I have send a couple of songs with samples and an explanation based on 4.05b2. I haven't recieved an email back and I don't see them in the bugfix list. the bugs are serious ones and are all caused by bugs in the rendering engine. please let me know if these bugs will be fixed in the next version.
they should first fix syncing then. i've tried syncing Live to midi clock from different software apps, but Live's tempo becomes unstable. i've also read other reports of the same problem.StompyJ wrote:sweet, I could DEF see it being a video based product, syncing to the audio loops... now THAT would be BADASS. Especially if they implemented non-destructive ways of altering the video in realtime.
I'm not trying to plug my own mix here, but I've never had anyone complain abot the quality of my mixes. In fact, I've only had praise for how smooth the final quality of the entire CD is. Feel free to take a listen.
1) All vinyls ripped from Technics SL1200mk2, Ortofon Niteclub needles, and Rolls Phono Preamp. Audio interface and software is Echo Indigo I/O and Bias Peak 4.
2) All tracks warped in Live 4.
3) Mix was done live with a Powerbook, Echo Indigo DJ, and recorded to an Alesis Masterlink where it was mastered.
4) Over 1000+ copies of this mix have been pressed and distributed. No complaints, only positive feedback. I never identified that the mix was done in Live. As far as the listeners are concerned it may as well be vinyl or CD.

Re: ..
Well, there could be many reasons why it's not fixed/haven't heard from them. Maybe the bug could not be replicated. It's also hard to keep in communication with all the stuff that gets sent in during a public beta. There are many more of us than there are developers, I'd guess.raapie wrote:what I don't understand is that I have send a couple of songs with samples and an explanation based on 4.05b2. The question is not whether or not you are influenced, but rather what it is that influences you.

I think it may be new live instrument plugins, like simpler and impulse, which use a lot less cpu than vst's... and maybe a dev kit for making these live native instruments, that would be very cool. I could use an impulse with more instrument slots, or a version of battery that plugs into live and lets you drag clips in the way impulse does.

The quotes around the word "feel" could be a clue, don't you think?Alex wrote:Hi folks,
When running this beta you will probably "feel" that there is also something new coming.

i wouldn't expect it in a 4.0.X update.Zky wrote:...but what I really really would like to have in this new version is...a better perfromance for the mac..sorry.. I know this is redundant...it's just that we the mac users really need it.....
more like a 4.X update or new 5.0 version, if ever.
as its really just G4 mac's that are suffering. (G3's do just as well as G4's, so they're fine for what they are. And G5's fly)
even though we wouldn't expect a new ableton instrument in this 4.0.5 update, sounds to me like its a bug fix, plus Ableton are also at the same time announcing a new "add-on" instrument.
When will they let us test these new tools to see if they work ok??
This is not really a full beta test , if so.
Unless it is something that is hardware based..???
I would assume it may be hardware related as Ableton are very much about proper software testing control and would not seem normal to me
that they would not want us to test "instruments" etc, if it was software based internal code..
I have to now guess it is hardware based toys to work with Live..

If only.... "Operator" as in to operate Live with. Drool!claudek wrote: I have to now guess it is hardware based toys to work with Live..
But I think it will only be software. Herr Henke the Clairvoyant did speak of people "looking at screens"... Perhaps it will be beta'd after the announcement, or just released "Steinberg Fashion". heh heh. But this is the A-Team we're talking about - they exceed expectations before breakfast and then smash paradigms after lunch. I've personally never been a huge fan of FM synthesis, so heres hoping for that "WOAH" feeling.
I still want to see something rising up out of the floor, Jobs-style, though. Even if its just Monolake, in power stance, holding aloft his laptop.
(no offence Robert...
I'm sure an ABleton FM synth will be unique - like the resonator - very distinct personality of its ownPitch Black wrote:. I've personally never been a huge fan of FM synthesis, so heres hoping for that "WOAH" feeling.
I wouldnt mind betting that it's not even just an FM synth in the conventional sense - there'll be something about it that stands out from the crowd!
