Also, while the control of Live obviously wont be as good as on the APC, it still looks pretty good with Maschine. Again, need som real world accounts before making up my mind finally.

Then again, with the cost I was looking at for a Machinedrum UW, I could easily justify getting both Maschine and an APC, and still have cash left over!
+1, I ordered mine yesterday...

Cool! I know there are some user accounts already floating around the forum and on the Net, but it would be good to read your thoughts too once you've had a play.

Not convinced. I've got Battery 3 and an MPC; that'll do me. The B3 library is twice the size of Maschine's, and the hardware, while cool, really doesn't appeal that much.

Would prefer a MachineDrum any day of the week!

Fair point, although this is a first version so I am sure new stuff will be added over time.

5GB of sample content is fine with me: I've got plenty of my own field recordings / found sounds to play with :D

It's only after watching all the Maschine video's on the NI site that I've started thinking it might be for me. The killer is the video showing integration with Live: if it works in practice as well as it does in the video... well, it's still not gonna be an APC, but it seems to do most of what I would need.

Here's another good set of videos that show off how quick it is to get beats going with maschine:

Watch parts 1 to 4.
