Recording clips fastly
Hi guys,
I'm new with ableton and I haven't found and "efficient" way to record clips from session view. Can I record a clip in the session view withount getting the output(the recorded data) in the arragment view? instead having that output in the session view clip ? How can I achive this ? Thank you!
David.

Prime your midi or audio tracks recording button at the button of the channel. in the clip slots, you should see that all of the squares turned to circles. Then monitor IN. Next, hit play at the top but make sure not to hit the recording button beside it. Press on any circle (clip slot record button) in the channel strip and the recording will start on the one of the next bar.
The other way is to prime your audio tracks and simply hit the recording button on any clip slot. The recording will start automatically and it is hard to get a good take this way. This will not record into the arrangement view.
Hope this helps. Other users please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you rayquan
this would have taken many hours of research. Another question in the topic, if you have partially achived the recording you want, let`s say you want the first part you recorded and want to re-record the second part. It seem dificult to do this if you dont "transpose" the clip to the arragment view and use the loop arrows to just record in the interval you want.. Any ideas of doing it ? thanks you again.

I think some of the terminology your using may be a little out of context, which might make it hard for people to answer as we have only a foggy clue about your intentions. I'll take a guess but let me first suggest that you read the manual (many times over even when not around your computer) because besides it being stacked with basics as well as tips, it also functions as a sort of terminology guide book for the beginnings of many things electronic music related and all most all
things ableton live related.
and actually now that I re-read your question for the 5th time I still have no idea what to say.
maybe it's just me though

I have re-readed my own text and you are very rigth hehe, english is noy my native language and talking about technical difficulties can be very difficult. I'll try to explain it better:
Once you have recorded your first "take" of the recording, imagine you want to change the last part of the recording because is out of tempo or whatever. Then, how can I preserve the part of the recording I like, and record again (in session view) the part I dont like without touching the part I like ? I know this can be done in arrangement view with the buttons near the loop button.
I have readed many parts of the manual but I didnt find the way to record in session view.

Re: Recording clips fastly
i would just drag the clip over to arrangement punch in/out what i needed .. get it all perfect.. consolidate then bring it back to session.. delete all the old clips in both arrangement and session and keep the good new clip
it may sound like allot of work but its not.. its only a matter of seconds especially if you use cut and paste to move your clip around.
one extra tip - get to know about manage files (file/manage files)
ableton keeps all your data saved in the project.. which will take up lots of hard drive space.
so at the end of each session if you do a file/manage files then select manage project
you can see all the unused files and delete them..

has anyone answered this yet?
that record button at the top of the screen records stuff to arrange. don't use that for session recording.
