Ableton 7 + Vista + ASIO4ALL = Frusteration

Hey guys, i'm having problems with getting any sound output from my asio4all drivers. MS wavetable synth is disabled and ableton is showing that it's receiving a signal but i'm not receiving anything from my speakers. any ideas? sound works when i use default drivers, i'm just trying to lower my latency.

Hi,

just an idea. I am also running Vista with Asio 4 All on Ableton. I have the problem that I have to switch between headphones and speakers in my windows audio settings. So I am not hearing anything when I use headphones when I am not switching to them and the other way around with my speakers. Its weird.

Just an idea.

thanks for the response, was hoping that might help me deduce what was going on.

still no sound.

on the audio preferences it doesn't list an audio input or audio output device as it normally does when i select other drivers. all that seems to be there is the channel configuration.

oh how i wish those sounds would play.

Thats okay for asio4all that you don't see any input or output device. Do you have activated the first two stereo- and monochannels in the input and output channel configuration ?

Open the hardware setup and switch asio4all to the standard configuration and change the buffer size in ableton to 512 samples.

i stopped using asio4all as it only made me wanna throw my computer outta the window.

in dx you can get 20ms latency... which is fine for 1 output. and you dont have to worry about disabling the outputs in windows etc. Still looking for a better soundcard, though

I gave up asio4all when I got vista . I just couldnt get it to work. Best i could manage I could see the waveforms but there was no sound.
I bought an external card and use real asio drivers. much better in the long run
