Looking for an Ableton 7 LE / Lite User to help me
Hi,
I just upgraded from Live 7 LE to Live 7 full boxed version.
On the page where they offered me the upgrade I'm pretty sure that
they say, the Live 7 upgrade BOXED version comes including
the Essential Instruments Collection 2.
In fact, what I got now is Ableton 7 WITHOUT the EIC2. I mean, they have
sent me the DVD, but they don't give me the serial because the
UPGRADE TO 7 BOXED version comes only with the demo.
The problem is, as soon as you have ordered you can't see the
page anymore, where they advertised the upgrade.
That's why I please ask anyone who has got Live 7 Lite and is registered
to log in and please send me a screenshot of of what they offer
you, when you click on the UPGRADE button. I'm very interested on what they say about the BOXED version.
I think the descrioption there is totally misleading, I think they write that "only the boxed version" comes with EIC2. But they don't say that it's only the demo. So, I'm very diasappointed and I'm not sure if it was
my fault.
Can anyone please please send me a screenshot to [email protected] ?
Thank you,
Regards, Torben

I think you would have a better time with customer support. They are very friendly guys, and will totally sort you out.
Everybody account has very different settings. I think it would be difficult, to find somebody with the same set up.
Here is an example:
You might think Live Lite, is the same for everybody. But its not. Live lite has dozens of different versions depending on the hardware you purchased. Some come with an extra -$50 coupon, some just have the basic upgrade.
The system becomes more complicated, based on what Live instruments you own.
IMHO, it will be quicker to Email customer support, than it will to find somebody who has your exact account, and can send an image of their upgrade paths, that would look the same as yours.
Cheers

this is EXACTLY the post I was waiting to type myself. I just upgraded from Lite. I'm waiting for my delivery in the post.TE1973 wrote:Hi,

The website appears to tell you that you will receive the EIC2 when you sign up, the disc is in the picture, but no serial number for it in the email.
It says box versions will come with EIC2. You buy the box option because you want the EIC2 disc, not because you want a manual and some stickers.
I will check back when my box arrives and let you if its different to your situation
Re: Looking for an Ableton 7 LE / Lite User to help me
I am a Lite user and I'm kind of curious to see what comes out of this previous post.
More specifically, I bought an Oxygen8v2 with Live Lite 6 a year ago or so and now I'm thinking about upgrading.
Can I upgrade from any version of Live Lite to Live 7 for their advertised price of $299 DL / $319 box? http://www.ableton.com/lite-version-upgrade The website doesn't seem to distinguish between the various versions of Live Lite.
Thanks in advance.
Also found this link : http://www.ableton.com/pricing
What is the difference between Lite and LE? From a pricing standpoint they appear to be almost identical.
Bad news on the EIC front : according to that pricing page, the only people who get EIC are those that bought the full box, not upgrades.
For me personally, all of that "extra" stuff (EIC, Session Drums, etc) doesn't mean a whole lot because I tend to favor slicing my own beats and using VST's for my synths.

If you have Live Lite 6 you should have already been given a free upgrade to Live Lite 7. You might have to register it first.jcwillia wrote:I am a Lite user and I'm kind of curious to see what comes out of this previous post.

The upgrade box package comes with 2 discs. 1 with Live 7 and the other with EIC2. You have to buy the serial separately for the EIC2 if you wish to use it. You can install it and use the LE/Lite versions of the instruments.
On the site it says that the box version comes with EIC2, but it doesn't mention the upgrade box coming with it. I personally think it should be more clear. It may have changed since I upgraded, I did write to them about it.
If you use separate vsti's etc it would probably benefit you to just buy the download upgrade. The box only contains the EIC2 (which cant be downloaded), a paper manual and a sheet of stickers. If these don't sound appealing to you, go the digital route.
Re: Looking for an Ableton 7 LE / Lite User to help me
inch thanx for the clarity.
the appeal of a box is pretty nice for only an additional 20bux - if for no other reason than to display for friends to show them how "legit" I am. (hehe)
anyone want to chime in on LE vs Lite? For all the product variations they have out there, they seem to go out of their way to make it all very confusing.

Re: Looking for an Ableton 7 LE / Lite User to help me
Once you get a listen to the EIC2 you might end up buying it. I did, some of the sampled sounds are really nice. I used some on the first track on my myspace player if you care to listen. I'm still learning but you'll get the idea.jcwillia wrote:inch thanx for the clarity.

Get the box and check out the EIC2. Use the manual for a reference away from the glare of the screen. Its nice to get away from pdf's from time to time.

cool stuff - you have different tastes than i do musically, but your passion for your work really shines through.Inch Lo wrote:Once you get a listen to the EIC2 you might end up buying it. Octave 88 is a hot one bro - keep working on that...i like where you're headed
follow up question - i just saw that live is going to be on sale on thursday in my home city of chicago?!? Does that force me to make a decision more quickly if I want to update to 7? I can only assume that once 8 is out I will have to pay a higher upgrade price from live lite to full version 8?

Octave 88 is a bass midi clip from inside Live 7 that I added some drums and instruments to. I only saved the file as far as I got and uploaded it for fun. I cant take credit for it because the notes were not from my head. As with the other two tracks, I've binned the save files. I do that a lot. Thanks for listening to the tracks though, like I said, I'm still learning. When I finish something worth requesting I might keep the save file
As for the follow up question, Live 7 is cheaper at the minute because they wont want to have a lot of dead stock once Live 8 arrives. Buy it at the discounted price then upgrade for next to nothing when Live 8 is released. That's what I'm doing. I would imagine you'll pay the full upgrade price to get to 8 once its released.
Hope that helps
Re: Looking for an Ableton 7 LE / Lite User to help me
the price configurations are literally head spinning. Live has so many offers going right now which seem to conflict for different users. You wonder if they really sat down and mapped this all out before they cobbled it together. Since I work for a big company, I doubt it.
Whether it's yer MIDI clip or not in Octave 88 or not, you put it together very well. Practice makes perfect - never give up and always challenge yourself to learn. I've been doing this since I was 17 (34 now) and the times I regret the most are the times I allowed myself to believe I would never get better or be "good" enough. What "good" means is completely irrelevant. Keep working.

Re: Looking for an Ableton 7 LE / Lite User to help me
i recently upgraded from live 7 le to live 7 full via a box they sent in the mail just like you (the original poster).
if you buy the boxed version of live 7 full
you get EIC2
if you buy the download version of live 7 full
you do not get EIC2
if you buy the upgrade to live 7 full boxed
you get EIC2 on disc but you do not get the license for it. you still have to buy it.
ableton is a tease...
