Battery 3 - what´s up?
Re: Battery 3 - what´s up?
CPU hit is minimal on my 2.2 Macbook Pro. Battery2 used to eat alot of CPU on my old Powerbook though.
Load times for my Live sets that have Battery3 are considerably longer than without.
Love the libraries.

Just saw the promo. What exactly is Battery gonna give me that drum racks don't. Just curious. Is it worth it just for the samples?

Sorry for the back and forth here...
Just randomly looked up Battery 3 at Sweetwater and it's only 99 bucks so obviously a better deal than NI.
Just so ya know.
peace

I don't get the point of the sale, aren't they meant to be pushing machine at the moment?
I used to use battery way back when but just use drum racks for the same thing now.

Not sure really... just giving the OP some info.
At some point I still would like to have the L8 suite myself, which judging from the beta, seems like it will have some nice kits. But I really have bought too much recently and need to get intimate with what I have.

Re: Battery 3 - what´s up?
Maybe the special offer has to do with new versions in the pipeline. Someone told me a week or two ago, that NI is in beta-test of a new Kontakt-version right now. If they really are - who knows if there will be more major updates?
Regarding to the why-Battery-when-I-have-Drum-Racks-question:
My main argument to buy Battery 3 after selling my Battery 1 years ago was the number of importable formats and the fact that Battery is something like a standard when it comes to drum-sound-libraries.
Drum Racks are very flexible and you can do push it to do cool things, but to me it's not very useable AND there is no chance to convert patches from anything else to a Drum-Rack without setting up the whole patch from zero again. - It's a shame that there seems to be no possibility to convert Sampler patches to Drum Racks and all of my old Akai-stuff I can only convert to Sampler.
Another point is, that I'm more into Batteries GUI and faster get what I want to using it instead of Drum Racks.
Those are my very subjective thoughts.
Best
Christoph

Re: Battery 3 - what´s up?
A new version of battery would be interesting, I thought this might fall off the updates schedule for a while with maschine (I'm still not 100% sure of the spelling here?) doing it's thing. Or even be put out to pasture with features eventually ported to maschine (sp again
).
A agree drum racks would use some extra features (like a lot of areas in Live) - but I'm happy with it for now (one less bit of software to worry about!)

That's one big attraction of the suite concept for me is the all in one, less is more, and smooth upgrade aspect. Still I've invested in Kore, Maschine and Komplete in the last couple years so I guess I'm a bit tornglobalk wrote:(one less bit of software to worry about!)

Re: Battery 3 - what´s up?
Whatever you think of Battery 3, it's definately worth considering for $99. (Although this is a limited time offer valid until May 31, 2009)
I just picked up Guitar Rig 2 (software edition) from a music retailer who was clearing stock for the new tax year and just had 2 copies left, for 70 Canadian dollars, which is a hell of a deal also. Yes, I know GR3 is now out, but GR2 still has a heck of a lot of features and for 70 bucks I snapped it up (plus there will probably be a discounted upgrade offer at some point in the future).
Native Instruments do some great discounts from time to time, Massive was also on sale recently. I'm a fan of most of their stuff, although their products can sometimes be a bit glitchy. I have FM8, B4 II and Massive and use them regularly, especially B4II and Massive (Operator is my main go to FM synth since I got the Live Suite and esp. the improvements coming in L8).
