Live 8 use it now or wait a bit longer

Post by SteveP72 » Fri Apr 03, 2009 9:17 am

Hi,

This is my first post. How are you all ? :-)

I bought Live 7 after the 15th of January so I was eligible for the free upgrade to Live 8 Suite which I'm pretty
happy with. Live 7 has been great and I have little doubt Live 8 will be less than that. However I'm a bit afraid to jump right
into it. I didn't participate in the beta testing phase but following the threads and the 'sudden' release I wonder if Live 8
is really tried and tested to be in the open ? Should I wait a bit longer like release 8.0.4 or so to install live 8 ? Can Live 8
reside next to Live 7 without 're-modeling' the installed samples so that Live 7 can't use them anymore ? Are there any installation
issues ?

All the best to you guys !

Steve

Welcome on the board!

As with all software, live 8 might contain bugs. If those are of revelance for you can only be determined if you test it with your sets on your system. So I would get it now and test it. If you exeprience bugs, the developers can only work on them for the next bug fix if you report them.

If you have a working performance set in Live7, or if you are working on an important production, keep Live7 and the live 7 projects alive. You can have both versions of live installed without problems.

Sets saved in Live8 won't open in Live 7, though.

I am looking forward to bring my perfrmance set to the next level with live8. But I would need to have it working fine on two or three rehearsals until I would really go on stage with it.

Personally I am waiting for a couple of patch releases first before I make the jump. I have some sound design deadlines coming up so will keep my current rig until those are completed.

I fully intend to update though, probs around august time. Things should have settled by then :-)
