FADERFOX DX2 .... HELP!!!

Hi all, First post so go easy on me!

Iv just started to use ableton as a DJ aswell as producing with ableton.

Iv got a UC-33 midi controller, installed the drivers etc etc and that works fine!

Iv now purchased a Faderfox Dx2 for controlling effects and launching clips etc, but i just cant get my head round getting it to work, all the manual goes on about is using the controller with traktor.

If anyone could give me an 'idiots' step by step on what i need to do that would be top!

sorry, i seem to be struggling with the concept of it, i have a midi cable going from midi out on the DX2 into fast track pro midi in.


I cant seem to find the controller in preferences/midi sync/ controller surfaces.


Im basically wanting to map it up but cant seem to find a way of ableton picking it up, i cant find drivers for it either?

YEah I don't see the DX2 lited in the list of control surfaces on that left column in top half of MIDI sync page.
But that only means that it is not natively supported for InstantMapping.
You can however still use regular MIDI map mode to map it (CTRL+M).

To MIDI map something you'll need to turn on the switch in the "Remote" column beside the input of your device.
In your case you will turn on the Remote switch for the MIDI In of the Fast Track as this is the MIDI port where your computer sees MIDI ariving from the DX2.

If you want to use Instant Mapping you can do that too by editing your own UserConfiguration.txt.
But I won't explain how/why to do Instant Mapping yet as I'm not sure if you even want that.

Set up your regular MIDI mapping using that Remote switch as explained and if you wsnt more help with Instant Mapping just shout back.

Thanks mate, iv tryed switching on the remote in the midi preferences and still after pressing Ctrl + m nothing seems to want to assign. Any ideas? im out

I have another question for you people out there. At the minute im just using an effects rack directly dropped onto my channel. Im sure there must be a better way i can use my controls and effects on more than two channels? whats the best way of doing this?
