Audible latency with an M-Audio Fast Track Pro.

Post by Sepp Ultura » Thu Apr 02, 2009 3:39 pm

Hi Folks,

I'm currently using an M-Audio Fast Track Pro for a theatre production. The problem is that there's a clearly audible latency when running audio through the Fast Track, as opposed to the MacBook-internal audio card. And as I should be able to fire off samples on time, that's a problem.

I've played around with the buffer settings, and Live shows an overall latency of 6.5 ms, which should not be a problem, but I can definitely hear it.

Am I missing something?

Cheers
Matt

I've just installed the whole thing a couple a days ago.. So I guess I've got the latest driver.

And as far as I know, Mac doesn't work with ASIO drivers..

How are you routing it all?

What do you mean exactly?

All audio produced by Ableton Live goes out on outputs 1 and 2. Then into a Mackie 24CH Mixer, using two channels.

I purchased an m-audio fast track pro and had the same issues. As far as I can tell that thing is garbage. I returned it and purchased a N\I interface and it works perfectly. Just my 2 cents tho...

I haven't got the CD, as I've borrowed the FTP from a shop for a theatre production. I've got the driver from the m-audio website. And that should be the latest.

I think it must be the driver. Can't imagine anything else.

I won't buy it, that's clear. I think I'll go for a Focusrite interface if I need one.
