EIC 2 & Session Drums presets are no longer available

Post by jon_moore » Fri Apr 03, 2009 10:02 pm

Having installed the 1.2 gig Live 8 suite on top my previous Live 7 suite I have noticed that none of my EIC of Session Drums presets are now available. The sample sets still exist in my Library (I assumed that seeing as both Session Drums & EIC haven't received updates as part of Live 8 the new presets would use the existing Live 7 suite sample sets) but the presets have vanished can anybody else confirm this behaviour.

Many thanks in advance.

Sorry end of the week and it's been a while since I've used any EIC or Session Drums content. It's there but all muddled in with rest of the Instrument rack content.

Feeling just a tad Doh! at the moment.

On a second view, it appears that I can only access those instruments that appear as Racks. It definitely looks like this is a bug. I'm going to call Ableton on Monday to confirm.

Can anybody else that has upgraded from 7 suite to 8 suite confirm?

Thanks in advance.

same here,

i feel stupid, i installed live 8 suite and non of my beta projects created in Live beta 8 want open properly, he is missing samples, which have been part of the beta library ???? and loads of standard presets...????

i used only standard presets (and then tweaked them) Plugs and samples from the beta library for testing...

one should assume that those items are part of the normal live 8 package after release... or am i missing here something?. even after a search of the missing samples he does not find anything (i deleted the beta library, cause i am short on HD space) however ??????????????

i am wondering and i am annoyed, or stupid!?

I upgraded from 7 to 8 Suite and so far I have noticed I lost a couple of Impulse drum sound files. This in turn shows up in previously created/saved clips as missing sound files making the original creation sets useless. I went to Preferences and ran a Repair on the Library several times. This did not help. I haven't played long enough to realize all that I may be missing. I would be curious what you determine after contacting tech support... please share your findings. Thanks

Don't know if this will help your situation, but I just ran a Live 7 Legacy pack and it brought back all sounds that I know were missing. It can be found on the Ableton site under Downloads/Live 8 and Suite 8/Live 7 Legacy Pack.

just found this thread!

I think I am in the same group: I got me Ableton Live 8 Suite in a Shop.

Installed it and Now?

Now I have Ableton Live 8 WITHOUT Suite.

I hope there will be a solution soon,

BECAUSE I HAD THIS WEEKEND PLANNED TO LEARN ABOUT MY DAW,

NOW I SPEND HOURS AND HOURS ON  NOT HAVING IT INSTALLED.

I also dont like that I never know, if I have the latest version of

EVERYTHING that I may have.

Its great that everything gets updated all the time, the ABLETON - TEAM

does a great job, but I miss a tool that keeps my DAW at the newest stand!!!!

I love Ableton, I admire its developers and I appreciate the support team
and I enjoyed gratis-Presentations,

but some more SELFFULLFILLING in the Prophecywould be great!

I jsut feel that buying the real thing and supporting the great effort keeps You punished!

Anyways, its the best,

Dandy

Having been led on a merry goose chase due to the new organisation of the library I can confirm that the whole of EIC2 from suite 7 is avaiable when you upgrade to the download version of suite 8.

However if you try and access you EIC sounds through the help shortcut you get sent to an empty search results page. There is no clear labeling either as which sounds are EIC sounds and which are driven by other sound generation components (e.g. the EIC electric piano presets reside in the same folder as the Elektric driven presets). While it's great to be able to navigate the library by instrument type it would be helpful to be able to identify which components without having the notes panel open (yet again even here only the new suite 8 presets have descriptions within this panel, the EIC presets provide no information in the notes panel).

In another thread I mentioned how impressed I have been with the quality of the new 8 suite presets (both instrument and effects). The organisation however is not very intuitive to use and in many ways under sells itself. For instance if you are a brand new user who has never heard Elektric you are more likely to navigate through the presets in the Elektric folder (these presets are dry and are missing the essential modulation and reverb effects that help define an electric piano timbre).

My irritation with the current library organisation may just be a by-product of upgrading from suite 7 to suite 8 (I certainly hope the the description texts for each EIC preset are not missing on a fresh install). But the organisation of the library has long been a failing with Live (just compare to the elegance of Logic 8, where every sound has multiple tags which allow you to cross navigate the available sound-set according to your specific needs). Live is a fantastic product but as the library grows in complexity the navigation toolset needs to be improved to match that complexity.

Feeling a bit guilty now seeing as this is my second rant of the weekend!

Time for glass of red me thinks...

;-)

I can confirm this issue; it is happening to me too.

What do you mean by 'the help shortcut'?
