I have a problem. In my live set i got 100+ scenes, 6 audio tracks 2 midi tracks sending notes to external devices, and bunch of other tracks for some routing, which does not matter regarding this problem.
The clip containing tracks (6+2) have 4 to 16 bar loops in them.
I want to be able to jump "inside a scene" in 1/4ths of a bar with my trigger pads.
Like a scene is playing and i can just hit any pad and trigger(quantized to 8ths or 16ths?) a different part of the loops inside the scene. This would allow me to drum my pads and rearrange loops in the playing scene as i perform and i would be able to return to normal "safe scene launching" at will.
I have a feel that this MUST BE POSSIBLE, i just don't know how.
And no, i cant divide every scene in 16 or 32 parts, it would be ridiculous, and demand quite a lot from a comp. Also i can't do it in drumracks, there isn't enough ram on earth to do it.

set all clips to "legato" mode.
and then assign a knob or something to control your clip launch quantize.

No, i don't see how this would enable me to jump INSIDE the scene at all.
What i mean is, i have 16 pads and a scene with let's say 4bar loops in it. I want to divide(not really divide, it still needs to be one scene in the session view) this 4bar scene to the 16pads so i can "play" and rearrange the parts of the scene accurately while the project is playing, and then jump to another scene when i want to, and use the same pads in the same way in the next scene and so on and so on.

I had a concept but did not have time to test it. might not work at all
use a 4 bar (whatever length) loop in the arrange view (empty of clips though!)
and locators on the quantize points - assigned to your controller pads.
so the question is: will launching the locators skip ahead in the session scene

This would work indeed if it would be accurate, but it isn't. Sometimes i hit say pad 1/1 clip play position jumps to 4/3. I really don't know why. I fought and cried with that method, but it seems it is just plain unstable. At times it worked at times it didn't(more the latter), no matter how similar situation it was.

you need to do more work on your set, it does sound like you need to chop them up, why can't you?

you can do something like this with arrangement view
Set a loop bracket of 4 bars, set 16 location markes on equal divisions of that loop. Midi assign the location markers to your pads. Set global quantize to 1/4th note and hit the pads. playhead should jump to the corresponding location marker in the loop.
Hit the global record button and play.

In the vids I have seen it looks like it displays 8 beat positions, changing from black to orange each beat. Can these be assigned to midi?

100+ scenes containing 4-16 bar loops. Now first of all, if you think of multiplying those scenes by 16, you might see my point of not wanting to do this.
ALSO i NEED to be able to jump to next 4-16bar scene when ever i feel like it and having 1/4bar scenes would ruin this.

This method was discussed 3 posts ago and it didn't work.
Hmm. This really is dumb situation not being able to do this... I guess if warp markers were mappable that would do it, but no.

That would need practicing, but:

THAT is what you need to duplicate: so you get 4 groups of 6 audio + 2 MIDI. (still 100 scenes)
Then have 4 triggers that control the mute/unmute of those 4 groups (new feature in live 8! even easier)
So first trigger group starts on beat 1
second trigger group on beat 2
third on beat 3
4th on beat 4.
Need to be tight on those mute/ unmute changes, but hey, you are a musician, are you?

I wonder if my centrino 1.73mhz toshiba can menage this hehheh.
Also no im not able to be tight on the "drumming"(muting) so i would need a solution that relies on trigger quantize.
