Max/Msp Live Rewire

Is anyone using this combo successfully?
I'm using Max as rewire master, Live as slave (so audio is passed from Live to Max) - this part of the deal works fine.
I want to be able to pass MIDI via rewire from Max to Live and it's not playing ball. Any ideas?

Yeah it's a steeo learning curve.
I used to be able to write code back in the 8 bit days and worked out a very efficeient algorithm to do a bit of midi mapping - turned out as about 4 equations. It then took me 3 whole days to translate it into Max. I did do a lot of reading though.

hi nunrgguy,

unfortunately you can not send midi data from a rewire host to live running as slave. what you can do is sending midi data from live running as master to another slave like reason. you can try a more sophisticated midi routing using something like midijoke (pc only).

Thanks for the reply - I've been tearing my hair out with that one. Is it something that will be implemented in a future version of Live? - As I understand it the MIDI part of rewire is full duplex, or am I mistaken?

Hi
I use Max/MSP and Live together, but not with rewire.
The solution is to use midi ports of max :
define your midi input in Live on "from maxmsp 1" and in Max, send your midi data in midi ouput "from max/msp 1"
and you can receive midi from live using "to maxmsp 1" as midi output of live (and input of Max)

Are you using a Mac or PC? - I don't think Max has its own ports on PC

Well, yes i'm using a mac. I'm very surprised that there is no midi ports on Max PC !

it's a discussion list, but you can perform a search in the complete archive (on the url i gave u)
You can post questions, and others max users (even max /msp creators) will help you, it's a very nice community

if u subscribe, you'll receive all the discussions, then u should create a mailbox or folder for it, so u can search directly in your outlook (or mail app)

Here it is - I was correct, Max on PC and Mac are different beasts in certain areas.

Just installed Yoke on my machine - won't work atm becuase I've now got 10 s.a.m. devices installed which is the maximum on XP. So now I@ve got to take the box to bits to remove some hardware (disable doesn't work). GAAAHHHH.
