The first option under the Help menu is - Help View

This brings up the same help panel you see whenever you update the programme on the right hand side of the interface.

One of the options available to you is a set of quick links to the Live library including the EIC if your have it installed.

Hope this makes sense.

My Quick Link under Help not only can't find the EICs, but it also makes the Device Browser button at the top no longer function. It does not reset itself even going to parent folder option. I have to close Live and relaunch the Live application for the browser button to operate properly. I am a bit confused as to whether all instruments are installed after reading several of these posts. I am relatively new to Live (less than one year) and have yet to use all that is available. I bought the boxed version so I guess when it arrives I will install once again and check and compare Library size.

Try rescanning your "Live Packs." Same thing happened to me, now it's all better.

Not sure what you mean by rescan.... do you mean using the previous Live 7 EIC 2 live packs that I have on CD from the boxed version I have of Live 7 Suite? I appreciate your support.

sorry to hear about your library issues guys
seems like every major upgrade of live introduces library dramas for the early adopters.
it's one reason why i always wait a while before jumping in

The deeper I investigate the issues with the library the more I find out.

It appears that there are inconsistencies in the way the library is presented. For instance the 8.2 version of the Drum Machines live pack does not contain any description information in the notes panel. This breaks the convention for Suite 8 instruments. Also the aforementioned bug in the Help shortcut also affects the Drum Machine packs.

On one hand it's my decision to download a programme on it's day of release so I should be prepared for a few wrinkles but this release really does feel like it has been rushed out the door just so it can meet a Musikmesse release date.

I am more than happy to beta test for free for a number of months but the whole reason for running such a large beta programme is to ensure your customers don't have to wait for the .03 or .04 release before they can trust the programme.

I've been an Ableton customer since version 3 and love so much about the company but these errors and inconsistencies in the library (coupled with the number of bugs that weren't addressed as part of the beta programme) leave a sour taste.

Preferences->Library->Repair Library

Go for coffee/tea/beer/your poison.

Come back to... the same problem. Sigh.

I even stuck the EIC2 DVD from my Live 8 box attempted to install only to be told that those packages already were installed (from my Live 7 box).

What else do we try?

BTW, if you have the 7 box don't get the 8 box, there's nothing extra aside from the bound manual. :-( Feeling a bit ripped off on that score. The price difference represents a good night out at the pub.

The organisation however is not very intuitive to use and in many ways under sells itself. For instance if you are a brand new user who has never heard Elektric you are more likely to navigate through the presets in the Elektric folder (these presets are dry and are missing the essential modulation and reverb effects that help define an electric piano timbre).
So... where should you go in that case, to find better Electric pressets ? To the instruments rack folder ?

Glad I'm not the only one trying to sort out the V8 Suite library.

Came across this link on how to install the Live 7 Legacy Pack: http://www.abeaddict.com/node/130

That's the spot - in the Piano & Keys folder. The majority of racks here are based on Electric but Operator, Sampler and Analog get a look in too. If you want to ensure your opening an Electric preset, check the notes panel before clicking the preset.
