Hi all,
Could somebody please direct me to previous posts that might address my topic?
I am not a current Ableton user. What I want to accomplish is to trigger WAV loops during our band's live performances. Most of the songs I have written contain some sort of WAV samples, so I would need an easy way to index, and then trigger the samples. Since I am a guitar player, most likely I would need to trigger the samples from a foot pedal. I am hopeful that Live will be able to accommodate this?
Thanks,
Andy

Live will be able to accomplish this easily.
You will need to use a midi assignable foot pedal (I believe most folks use the Behringer) and assign clip or scene launching to the foot pedals.
I know Cassettes Wont Listen does the same exact thing (plays guitar and launches loops w/ foot pedal), as well as thousands of electronic musicians.

you can do this a number of ways. Using simpler/sampler. Or just dragging your sample onto a slip slot in session view and assigning a midi note/range to it.
I suggest you watch the tutorial videos on youtube.com/abletoninc before going further. It will clarify a lot of things and avoid many RTFM answers.

Thanks for the insight. I hate to make repeated questions, so if there is previous forum on this, please direct. Otherwise could someone tell me exactly what I would need to pull this off?
I have a behringer FCB1010 midi foot controller, and a Presonus firebox firewire interface.
What other pieces of equipment will I need in order to connect the FCB to control Live?
Cheers,
Andy

You shouldn't need anything else - FCB10 -> MIDI -> Firebox (trusting the Firebox has MIDI I/O... can't be bothered to look!)apf87c wrote:Thanks for the insight. The MIDI input should be picked up by Live once you've selected your ins & outs in the prefs. pane. You can then Ctrl-M/Apple-M to assign the MIDI messages from your footboard to the clip slots in Live.
I'd go back and read the chapters on MIDI control and MIDI assignment in the manual...
