Corrupt song file in Live 4

Post by Machinesworking » Sun Jan 09, 2005 12:23 am

I've had a few incidences where Live, after crashing can not open the song file again! it crashes every time. 8O The first time it was in 4.0.0. so I thought it was due to it being a .0 release. Recently it happened again. I'm wondering if anybody else has experienced this, and if there's any solution?

Live doesn't automatically keep a back up of a song, and I didn't automatically think of doing that. Fortunately I started the song in Logic, so it didn't kill days worth of work, just hours.
I'm on a mac, using a dual Gig G4 machine, and a powerbook 800mhz, the song was at about 80% CPU with Pluggo plugs, native Live plugs, Native instruments (maybe, don't remember), Buzzer, PSP Vintage Warmer on the output.

Here it is:

Windows:
Documents and settings/user name/applicaion data/ableton/live 4/preferences/undo.cfg.
-> Make sure that the folder is not hidden for display by Windows!

Mac OS X:
/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live 4.xy/

Deleted those, didn't help. Turned out to be a beta Audio Unit synth I was working with. I went into preferences and turned off "Use Audio Units" and the song opened up just fine. I saved the song that wouldn't open, and I'll send it to the developer.
Thanks for your help! :)

I am having very same problem. I was wondering if it might be Service Pack 2 that was behind all the fuzz, but then I realized that it worked just fine the first couple of months. You were saying that the problem regarded an Audio Unit, could it be that one of my VST/i:s is corrupt?
