mneh...i like mine when it works, but i've had a lot of problems:

1. wouldn't start up ('cpu not valid' display)...returned it to motu who replaced it with another one.
2. display didn't work...returned it to motu who replaced it with another one.
3. one of the firewire ports didn't work...returned it to motu who replaced it with another one.

anyway...on my 4th, which is doing ok so far.

have to say, though, that the guys @ moog audio here in toronto were really cool and helpful about the whole thing (i.e.giving me a replacement for cheap or free while mine was getting repaired), so it didn't bite tooo much, but still...having 3 of them crap out is pretty insane.

My ultralite is like my mac:

transparent.

I mean, you don't feel like using something to do something else. You just do this something else, that is, making music. :D

for mac, yes it works great. for pc, i have found it frustrating and very prone to crashing my system. i don't think motu put much work into the drivers for pc.
ableton 7, cubase 4, some plugs and controllers etc.

I had a show the other night. I got to club. It wouldn't power on. Tried both bus power, and the external adapter to the wall. Sucked. I had to use the built-in audio on my MBP. bah.

I opened a MOTU ticket today. We'll see tomorrow what they say.

All and all if it turns out to be dead I will probably buy another one. That's a pretty good endorsement. I have friends who have worked in tech support for some of the other interface manufactures and they've all told me to just stick with MOTU. They're the best.

(btw, used Live 8 on stage. That worked great!)

I had a similar problem and MOTU support was good, very personable. Sent them the unit and had a replacement back promptly.

I have two, kind of overkill, but the preamps sound great, latency is low, everyone I've played with that uses them swears by them.

+1 for MOTU products in general and the ultralight MK3 specifically, I love mine, been rock solid with no problems at all.
