The little blue hand (automap) Live 8
The little blue hand (automap) Live 8
Can you assign a midi cc to select the device/rack/effect that the little Blue Hand appears, ie. allowing automap of the 1st 8 controls?

As of Live 8, yes.selthym wrote:Can you assign a midi cc to select the device/rack/effect that the little Blue Hand appears, ie. allowing automap of the 1st 8 controls?

Something so small is absolutely massive for me.
Now I can finally turn the padkontrol into the step sequencer I want it to be. The 16 pads can now be mapped to trigger a sound and select a rack with the 2 rotaries and the xy pad selecting note length, pitch, velocity plus anything else I want it to. Bring on version 8.

selthym, how do you set this up? thx man
Re: The little blue hand (automap) Live 8
go to map mode and click on top of the vst or rack or whatever (you'll see the blue hand) and hit the control you want for itYhtomit wrote:selthym, how do you set this up? thx man
thanks for this topic I had no idea this feature was in L8. Wow this is nice
The little blue hand (Instant Map) Live 8 - Step Sequencer
Here is a very basic template to use as a start. I will upload the finished version once it is complete.
http://www.selthy.com/misc/Live%208%20S ... mplate.als
Just map a midi or keystroke to both the speaker in the 1st rack (steps) and the 'automap Ctrl rack' (to do this just click on the racks name) for each of the 16 steps. If you have a control surface that uses Lives Instant Mapping, you should then be able to control the Note Length, Velocity and Pitch (I forgot to load the Pitch midi effect before posting this) for the last step that you pressed. I would suggest putting a scale plug in after these racks.
This is just a quick basic adjustment to the Live 7 sequencers myself and some others made. With Live 8, these can be taken to the next level.
If you create something from this... please share.

Re: The little blue hand (automap) Live 8
to take this one step further: shouldnt there be a way to midi-map a control to move between devices to choose what gets auto-mapped? like on the apc there is a Device Left and Device Right button. anyone know how to midi map this?

Re: The little blue hand (automap) Live 8
if you have automap pro,you can assign the left/right cursor keycommands to buttons on novation hardware.swishniak wrote:to take this one step further: shouldnt there be a way to midi-map a control to move between devices to choose what gets auto-mapped? like on the apc there is a Device Left and Device Right button. anyone know how to midi map this?
if you don't have that, you should use software that translates keycommands to midi....just search the forum or the web.
hope that helps.take care

Thanks for that. It looks for the VST version of Supatrigga when I load the set but I only have the audio unit version. Where should I put it?selthym wrote:Here is a very basic template to use as a start. I will upload the finished version once it is complete.

Oh, and which Live 7 sequencer is this based on?
Re: The little blue hand (automap) Live 8
Fuck it. I'm going to pick up a second-hand PadKontrol.
Re: The little blue hand (Instant Map) Live 8 - Step Sequencer
I wouldn't worry about supatrigga, it doesn't effect the workings of the set. BTW this is a very basic example, to show that you can now midi map each device to be 'Instant Mapped'onestep wrote: Thanks for that. When I get the chance I will post my finished version.
Here is a thread about the Live 7 versions. IMO they are a little limited, especially my version.

ok, i was just curious to know where you used it, for sake of reference.
Did you mean to point to a thread?selthym wrote:Here is a thread about the Live 7 versions. IMO they are a little limited, especially my version.

I sure did.

I have my new sequencer working well, with visualfeedback on the padkontrol and instant mapped controls. I will iron out a few minor little things and upload it a little later today.
