L8 on Vista all NI instruments asking for activation
L8 on Vista all NI instruments asking for activation
On my XP desktop there is no problem, and in Live 7 there is no issue.
But in my new install of Live 8 on my Vista 32 notebook all of my Native Instrument VST's are asking for activation.
I go through the activation again, and it says all products are activated.
Any ideas?
This happens on :
Reaktor 5
Absynth 4
FM8
Massive

you have to start live 8 once in administration-mode,distraub wrote:On my XP desktop there is no problem, and in Live 7 there is no issue.

Thanks!
I will try it, I don't remember having to do that with Live 7.

Start up your NI products as standalones.
Reboot, start Live as administrator and reset your plugin folder.
Done.

Re: L8 on Vista all NI instruments asking for activation
similar problem solution for synth 1, albino 3 and some other plugins...
synth 1 can´t remember bank settings and surface-changes, albino always asks for serial etc.
seems that some plugin-settings need to be changed by L8 and vista denies overwrite-access...
all of that settings must be done one time by starting L8 as admin - problems solved...!
(unfortunately that does not make synth 1-parameters acessable by the new configuration-system)

Re: L8 on Vista all NI instruments asking for activation
Oh yeah- that thread.
I'll summarize, since I made most of the suggestions there:
1) Run Live as an administrator
2) Move your plugin folder out of C:\Program Files. If you're playing strictly by Vista rules, C:\Program Files is write protected. If you really need to have your plugin folder there. move your NI plugins to a folder outside the Program Files location and put a shortcut to the folder in your normal plugin folder; Live recognizes shortcuts in the plugin folder. Or, just move them all and reset your plugin folder accordingly.
3) do the run in standalone/reset your plugin folder routine. If the reset doesn't work, trash your Live preferences.

Thanks,
That fixed my issue, at least I think it did, around the same time NI updated their service center, and activation seemed to work in L8.

The point is, you don't need to reactivate if you've run it in standalone. All NI plugins must be run as standalones after an install or update before using them as plugins for the first time.
With the Vista scenario that's been happening, running Live as an administrator and making sure that the NI stuff's been run and activated in standalone's all that's needed.

Re: L8 on Vista all NI instruments asking for activation
Just as a quick note, I fired up all the NI apps in standalone, no activation, tried again in Live... still it was asking.
It wasn't until I ran as administrator that the problem cleared up.
