Mac Pro Quad Core + Ableton Live 7.01 ---- CPU USAGE????

Hi

My computer is a Mac Pro Quad Core with 8 GB Ram and a 2.8 Ghz Processor. I use the Edirol FA - 101 sound card and the Akai Mpk47 midi keyboard. I have no problems so far but the CPU usage reaches up to 50 % sometimes while running about 6 to 10 channels. The VST I am using is Sylenth. Just checking if I can reduce the CPU usage by manipulating the settings in a way.

I have the same computer and the same problem, CPU sometimes runs over 100% to 500% or 1000% and everything hangs, really weird and annoying.
My buffer size is set at 126, my mac pro is really powerful, so somethings wrong. It wouldnt do this on my macbook even.

You are aware that the maximum cpu usage is 100% right?

Ofcourse, but im just telling what it shows on the screen, the cpu meter goes mad and rapidly changes from 200 to 1000% maybe it has something to do with the 8-cores?

Live 7.01? You mean 8.01?

If not, why don't you update to the latest version of live 7?

Live 7 actually, i have the latest version. It only happens egen using au or vst instruments, i don't know if it's normal but the vst instruments work ALOT better than the au, this may not be an ableton problem, but i'm stuck and everything works well in logic.

I think your problem is with the soundcard. Even though mine shows high usage for the size of the machine, it still works fine. I also updated to Live 8 which is pretty good. Much better than the older version Check your soundcard settings !! or try formatting your machine and re-installing everything. Keep your machines Internet disabled too, unless you need it for updates.
