Some people scarcely deserve it. How about the guy who admitted he used warezed Live because "it was too expensive"? I have mostly contempt for his attitude.DrXparaMental wrote:...If you really consider yourself "one up", why not extend a helping hand in the form of encouragement or even an inspired smile? ableton needs to be half the price
Re: ableton needs to be half the price
First of all, I want to salute you for being honest and supporting software you find value in. That's good and worth of all emulation.
Live 9.1 <> occasionally Reason 4.0.1 <> Reaper.latest! <> Windows 7 on a bespoke Intel Q6600 <> ASUS P5E <> 8GB RAM, M-Audio Delta 2496 and that's it.

now see... I KINDA get that piracy angle until you can afford SOMETHING that will work in some capacity (Lite/LE) but I would think the guilt of working with a stolen product would weigh on you after a while.rasputin wrote:First of all, I want to salute you for being honest and supporting software you find value in. There is NO excuse for stealing, absolutely none. If I was a poor aspiring musician walking down the street and saw an opportunity to smash a local music store owners window out and grab a musical instrument of my choice until I could afford to buy one, I am low life thief no matter how you look at it.
There is a HUGE difference between black and white. Too large to confuse. A thief is a thief is a thief, not that the slimy bugger couldn't reform.
Re: ableton needs to be half the price
you are right. I tend default to a position that offers people grace for the situation that they are in but you are correct - wrong is wrong and there's no shade that makes it right.
Re: ableton needs to be half the price
Funny how the webshop informs me I can save $743 by upgrading to Suite 8 when Suite 8 is only $699! Convenient oversight? Dishonest marketing? Either way I'll stick with Live 6. Whining bitch and proud of it so anyone with the STFU routine can STFU.

What hardware does logic need?!Sage wrote:Logic and Pro Tools require specific hardware, so the companies make money from you twice, hence why they can be cheaper, all the other there are about the same price as Ableton, maybe not Suite, but all the synths included with that aren't necessary.
Re: ableton needs to be half the price
Man, I can't believe I read all ten pages of this thread. Not all at once mind you
.....
...anyway, it is quite pointless to bitch about the price of the product and buy it anyway. People can whine all they want, but if they end up buying the product, then it means the price is not too high. If most people would not buy (or upgrade to) the new version, then the price would drop like a rock in no time.

exactly.
bitching and whinning about it doesn't drop the price, and quite frankly, i think ableton is established enough to understand when and if they should lower their prices.
Sure they listen to us about what we would like to see in the product, but i think price is something they are not willing to negotiate with their customers about. Do you know the operating costs of ableton? Pay Roll? Insurance? etc etc??? I know I sure don't. It's a confidential topic and if you want it badly enough, email customer support. They may add on an extra percentage off of your purchase just by emailing, or calling.
If anything I think sales has escalated over the last few years with ableton so why go cheaper when people will pay top dollar. Maybe during the recession they will notice a drop and adjust accordingly but for now the price is where it stands. The reality of it is, Ableton needs to make money and if they produce a well enough income at the price they have it at now, then why on earth would they drop the price.
BUT if the world wasn't in an economic recession would people still be bitching and complaining?? I mean the whole point of this topic is based on the fact that money and work is scarce at the moment so is it really just venting?
Unless the big boys at Ableton see drastic changes in their net income figures vs operating costs to run the business, and other accounts, then i don't see them giving any more of a discount anytime soon but WHO KNOWS! maybe this thread may have an impact on the crew at ableton
WHAT i do hope they do is offer a bundle for ableton and the APC40.
