New Apple G4 £318.785 gets you 1.42 ghz New ipod for £69
It reminds me of the cube. Remember that thing? It was a flop. But it was more expensive and everyone was stuck on legacy PCI peripherals.
Honestly, once you put a decent hard drive and an airport in it, it's approaching $700. I think shell out a few hundred more and the iBook is a MUCH better value.
I don't think it will work as a Logic node, which I believe requires a G5.
I think that new iPod is Apple's next flop.
My $0.02.

I don't know where you've been shopping.mcconaghy wrote: Consider this: A Flash USB stick, around 256MB, will set you back about $150. Apple gives you 1GB for that price. Instant hit.
A Flash USB stick with mp3 capability, around 256MB will set you back around $64 rather than $150 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDe ... 002&depa=0
Apple's 512MB and 1GB ipods are about the same $$ as most other companies' offerings at those sizes. But they certainly are NOT Cheaper than others.

right, but when people walk into a best buy and they have the ipod shuffles at $99 for 500mg or $149 for a gig on the shelf next to:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... pe=product
which one do you think will be hopping off the shelves?
the thing is that apple prices are pretty standard across the board and stores charge a huge retail markup on other stuff than you can find much cheaper online. apple knows this and has priced their new cheap consumer targeted items to beat what other stuff actually retails for in stores.

ipod shuffle.
thank the universe!
apple is now focusing their attnetion to flash memory.
- a very exciting thought when you consider the implications and applications.

Truth is my dual Gig machine has a 167mhz system bus, and two Gig chips equal about a 1.6 even if Live used dual Gig machines, it doesn't. So for Live the 1.4 model would be considerably faster! Basically a 40% or so increase in power.FaX-01 wrote:512kb cache (at full power) - 167mhz system buss (ok they've lost me here totally) ..........
That said it would make a great internet machine that's for sure.
But it sure looks like a victory of style over substance to me
Now the 1.8 iMac is much nicer for sure, but considering the difference in price...... granted you get a 20" screen built in, but still.
Round my area 256MB will set you back 149-199, so no need to roll your eyes, mate.AdamJay wrote:I don't know where you've been shopping.mcconaghy wrote: Consider this: A Flash USB stick, around 256MB, will set you back about $150. Apple gives you 1GB for that price. Instant hit.

I cant reveal too much but theyre coming!hoffman2k wrote:It's 2005. they are suposed to have recycable roll out screens by now.
What really would be cool was something like an old setup to watch slideshows. you know? at first it's like a big cilender. but when you unfold it you have a screen with a stand
Remember to have read a newspaper article last year that Philips have it already developed and was going to be marketed 2005-2007. (no joke)sweetjesus wrote:I cant reveal too much but theyre coming!hoffman2k wrote:It's 2005. they are suposed to have recycable roll out screens by now.
