I know I'm coming across as Dickish on this issue, and it does really suck that a guy died, but honestly. Sorry, but there's been plenty of protests in this country over the last 10 years (and longer, of course) in which the police have beat the ever loving shit out of people. In broad daylight. Not in back alleys. Cops are more careful here? Hardly.

2005. De Anza College in Cupertino. Several Iraq War protesters receive a good ole' fashion Old School beat-down. I can list a couple dozen more examples.

Maybe I just have Outrage Fatigue. My county has been killing innocent civilians wholesale in Iraq and Afghanistan for nearly a decade. The new El Presidente' has done nothing so far to stop this, and there's no end in sight. I know I'm supposed to get outraged because a handful of cops in London got out of control and a guy died, but I'm just too fucking stunned at the hundred+ more people that will die next week because our entire GOVERNMENT is out of control. :(
I came for the
But stayed for the :x

Also, don't downplay violence, just because your area is fucked up, doesn't mean the rest of the world should be as compliant as LA is towards it.
Compliant? Funny. A whole generation (or 2. or 3.) of black men would disagree. *shrug*
Everybody gets pissed about it, but they don't do anything about it. Rodney King was just the most obvious example. I've know people of all colors my whole life that have really scary horror stories about LA cops. One guy is in a wheelchair after being shot in the back. Skinny stoner kid, ran when they caught them graffitiing etc. What changed after King? Did they run harder tests on racism or sociopathic behavior in LA cops? All I saw was them put a black man in charge, that's all. A big publicity stunt.

It doesn't matter where it is or how common it is, it still sucks, and I'm glad the UK is noticing their own asshole police, maybe LA will catch on, but I doubt it, it'll just end up with another LA Cops episode making the poor po po looked like they have it tough.....

OK I get yah. The news in general will make you think the zombie apocalypse is next week, (which is stoopid, it's in 2012 duh!), and it's cool you're upset about Obama being a war president.
